Kano has always known what her lot in life was. She was hatched in a dingy lair, still damp and shaking off pieces of egg shell when she was plucked from the nest and told she was destined for greatness. It was soon apparent, though, that "greatness" was going to be as a scrappy underground fighter. It's not really something she could brag about, knowing that the fight ring would be shut down by authorities if it was known about. But, her love for the adrenaline, her screaming fans when she puts her claws around an opponent's throat, all of this kept her prideful. It was this pride that brought her to step up and offer herself as one of the first dragon test subjects for experimental cybernetic augmentation. She's a leader, a pioneer -- 'she's untouchable,' they whispered behind her back, 'no one will ever surpass her. Kano preened under this praise; of course they're right, she thought, she had spent years fighting and she's a crowd favourite and she hasn't lost a match in longer than she can remember. The pain was excruciating. Nothing Kano had ever before met in the fighting ring had prepared her for the sheer agony of having the flesh of her body replaced with cold, unyielding metal; organs removed to install their superior replacements, limbs hacked and stretched over titanium bone and steel muscle. Kano lost track of time, her life sunk into a half-delirious haze, barely existing. But slowly, slowly she was brought back to health, and Kano realized that never before had she been more alive. Her lungs filled, tasting the oxygen as her new heart pushed blood through her veins. Rising from her sickbed, Kano took her first steps on augmented legs and gasped in delight -- never before had she felt such sheer, raw power in her body. Metallic fangs flashed at her doctor, and Kano began to count the days until she next stepped into the fighting ring. Before, she was terrifying. Now, Kano is a force of nature, rending her opponents limb from limb in bloody displays to delight and disgust her audiences. Cybernetic enhancement is still considered too dangerous for most, and Kano's sheer force of will to survive it and thrive with it draws new spectators to the ring where she rules as queen.
