He has an obsession with flying. While technically able to fly himself, it's not enough. His focus lies more on engineering a device to make it possible to fly without actually flying himself. Is it consideration for those that can't fly as well as Wind dragons can? Maybe. Is it laziness? Likely. Is it because he loves flying so much that he wants to invent other ways to do so? Who knows, but he also thinks it would be cool to airlift other things besides dragons. It's a useless hobby in a world like Sornieth where most things can fly already, but... well, to each his own.
