Griff searched and searched, looking for the perfect gift. She picked up a pocket watch and shined it quickly with a feathered arm, "How about... No, no, no!" Griff cried, throwing the object to the ground and beginning her search again, "What about...." Griff looked around and found shiny, smooth gems. She picked them up and inspected them before throwing them down, her anger growing, "What can't I find something!" Griff growled. She was about to continue her search when she realized she had to meet Maryam. Griff grit her teeth and took flight, trying to calm down before the meeting. "I'm fine, I'me fine" Griff said briskly, after setting down next to the ocean colored Skydancer, "Let's go" Griff didn't wait for a response as she took flight again, only looking back to make sure she hadn't left Maryam behind. They were soon in a group with a few other dragons, all of which were looking slightly antsy, not helping Griff's mood. "Well tell us what happened" Maryam said to the Coatl named Sundance. Before he had the chance to speak, Griff cut in, "Yes, please, tell us what happened" Griff cringed internally at the sarcasm she'd let slip into her voice. Maryam then did what Griff hadn't wanted to happen, she sent them away so she could talk to Griff, "What happened..." griff heard, Maryam's voice soft, "Nothing happened" Griff lied, "If you say so, but please don't treat our Lairmates like that again, it was uncalled for, okay?" before Griff could respond, Maryam was off, leaving Griff by herself. Griff sighed, her anger resurfacing. Griff took off, heading back to where she had been, searching for something for Maryam. Griff searched and searched, everything she found was useless, something Maryam already had, or not special enough that it would stand out in her mate's nest. Griff grit her teeth and tore apart the surrounding area, looking for anything. She lifted her head, the smell of Pearlcatcher and magic. Griff turned around, seething and ready to pounce, but the Pearlcatcher was too far away to reach in one lunge, "Who are you" Griff demanded, eyes narrowed at the hooded Pearlcatcher, "I'm just a wanderer" The Pearlcatcher said, "Yeah, sure, you're here for territory!" Griff accused, "No, I have a lair, and I have lairmates, I don't want yours. You look agitated." Griff growled, but something about this Pearlcatcher made her calm, made her want to speak, but she was uncertain, "Don't worry, many people feel the urge to tell me things, tell me, maybe I can help" the Pearlcatcher offered, coming closer and sitting, after pulling his hood down so Griff wouldn't feel threatened. Griff spoke, and told the Pearlcatcher everything, she just wanted to find something special for her mate, something that would stand out in her mate's nest, and she couldn't find a single thing. The Pearlcatcher nodded, "I believe I can help you" he said. He searched in a pouch he had hanging at his hip. He pulled out several leaves attached by a single thread and showed Griff. Griff looked at the leaves and nearly exploded, "Leaves!" griff cried, "You want me to give her leaves! If I wanted to give her that I would have picked them off the trees!" The Pearclatcher held up a single claw, "No, not just leaves, feel them, gently" he said, handing them over. Griff ran a finger over the leaves, the cool, smooth surface, "Glass" Griff breathed, eyes widening in wonder, "they're glass" she repeated. The Pearlcatcher nodded, "Yes, you should take these to your mate, I guarantee she'll love them, I made them myself" Griff nodded quickly, "Thank you so much!" Griff cried and took off, to Maryam's nest. She arrived and Maryam wasn't there, she decided she would wait and looked at the glass leaves, admiring them. Soon Maryam landed in the mouth of the cave, and Griff hid them behind her, "Look, I'm sorry I was... Snappy earlier. I was trying to find something to make your nest special and... I... I was having some trouble" "Oh Griff-" Maryam started, but Griff wasn't finished, "I know how much you like your nest, so I got you these, there was this black Pearlcatcher who was wandering and saw me in my search, he gave me these and... I thought they would look lovely" Griff said as she tookt he leaves fro behind her, "They're glass!" she added as she handed them to Maryam, "So be careful."Maryam smiled, "Thank you Griff" Griff smiled as Maryam nuzzled her, then left to find somewhere to hang them.
