Biography

ERIS
Adviser | Teacher

Couvre l'odeur nauséabonde de la chair pourrie avec le doux parfum des fleurs.

Eris was raised by a clan of barbarians. Her childhood mostly consisted of pillaging small and defenseless clans on the borders of the Scarred Wasteland. While not physically gifted, her sharp mind was soon noticed and she became the chief's youngest adviser and strategist. With her help, what was previously inconceivable became possible; the clan began taking on larger, stronger clan, amassing more riches in the process.

Her clan leader grew cocky and reckless. The thrill and wealth had gone to his head and nothing seemed to be enough anymore - his advisers became worried, but none dared to voice their doubts. Still inexperienced, Eris didn't think of backing out. If anything, she enjoyed being given challenges. As her skill was so valued, she had never been on the field and didn't fully know the extent of the death and destruction she was indirectly responsible for.

The day came when her leader ordered to devise a plan for their most daring attack yet. They were to take on a larger, stronger and more organized clan, on with advanced technology and some of the best minds this world had to offer. It was foolish and infeasible, and to most it equaled to suicide. Convinced that their leader had lost his mind, many fled, taking with them the treasures they had stolen over the years. The leader grew irritated and began taking his frustration out on Eris, who he had cajoled all these years. He pressed her to work faster and better, insisting it would all be worth it in the end.

She couldn't do it.

It had already seemed impossible at first, but now that a third of the clan had deserted and their equipment had been stolen, she couldn't come up with anything that wouldn't end in failure - and, for the first time, she felt that her life was on the line.

This realization terrified her. She had always treated her job as a game of sort, and had never considered that losing was a possibility, and that the consequence would be death. Having only her interests at heart, she decided to send the rest of her clan to meet their fate. She came up with a plan that she already knew wouldn't work, but to be sure their target would grace her, she found a way to get in touch with them and explain to them her plan, betraying and sabotaging her own clan in the process.

Eris had never planned on being part of the attack. She had hoped to flee while the rest of her clan met their end. Unfortunately, her leader had another thing in mind.

"Come with us. It's about time you see firsthand what you've made possible for us." Eris refused. "I've never fought," she said, "I'll be a burden." The leader would have none of it. With every excuse she made, he grew suspicious. Eris finally had to accept his order or risk being compromised.

The night of the attack, Eris was dragged in with the rest of her clan members. Her leader had insisted she stay by his side to protect her, reducing her chance of escaping. Aside from that, everything took place the way she had anticipated - her clan made it past two levels of security before being ambushed. As her clan members were slaughtered around her, the dragons she had grew up with and learnt from, Eris tried to get away. She almost made it, so close to leaving - nearly making out of the massacre taking place - but she was caught.

"You. I trusted you."

Her leader was severely injured, covered in the blood of many different dragons, holding onto her with energy fueled by rage. Eris tried to shake him off but he was much stronger and her own fear was keeping her still. Let go! Why won't you die already? Die, die, die!

"You think you can get away with this? You think you can just walk away?! Well here's a gift for you."

Terrified, Eris tried to make it out of his hold, but too late. A liquid hit her face, her eyes, and a shriek escaped her as she collapsed to the ground, suddenly hit by an unbelievable pain. The burning was stronger than anything she could have ever imagined as the powerful acid ate at her flesh and destroyed her eyes. She screamed until she eventually passed out.

When she woke up the world was dark. The pain was still present, but much more manageable. She could smell her own damaged skin and the fresh bandages, as well as the strong scent of flowers. She could hear voices in the distance, and could feel a presence close to her. "I don't... What is..."

"Oh, you've awake," a sharp and unfamiliar voice had spoken. "We bandaged you and treated you. See it as a sign of gratefulness." There was a scoff. "Well, even if you hadn't warned us your pitiful clan wouldn't have made it far. However, you did help prevent a few losses and damages." There was silence again. "But don't take this for what it is not. Your kind is not welcomed here. You're expected to leave as soon as you've recovered."

Despite her begging, Eris had to leave soon enough. Now blind, she learnt to rely on her other senses, especially her sense of hearing. Luckily for her, a large clan took her in out of pity and made her the mate of a prince. There, she became a mother of four, but never really bonded with her mate or children. Instead, she focused on becoming a skilled fighter and managing her handicap.

Her children left. Her mate was banished. Eris decided that it was time for her to leave too. She left the Scarred Wasteland and decided to discover the world she lived in. She changed from a Pearlcatcher to a Skydancer along the way, tucking her pearl away, and befriended a Warlock named Caesar while traveling through the Windswept Plateau. She learnt from her travels. She grew quieter, wiser, and most of all kinder. When joining [lmao I need to come up with a name for this clan damn], she reclaimed her position as an adviser and a teacher. While she doesn't spend much time fighting herself anymore, she teaches young dragons the art of sword fighting.
