Stealth Assault: Quickstrike
"Only the Gods know how quickly you will see your fate..."

}

P E R S O N A L I T Y

A seriously stealthy Quickstrike (a really fast hunter/warrior). Cloud madly in love with the dragon Yeri, but doesn't show it because of her mate. He is shy, and often hides his emotions. He has some nervous habits, such as talking a pacing. Cloud tends to ramble and be very excitable. When it comes to his work, he is very silent and serious, contradicting his usual personality due to his effort to do well.

B I O G R A P H Y

Early Days:

Cloud was hatched in a divot in the ground, alone. There was no one around to take him home, so he set out to find his own way. He wandered for a while before a young dragon found him and took him back to his clan. The young dragon didn't speak to Cloud but when he brought him to see the clans leader he said, "I found one of the young, must have hatched recently he's not skinny yet. What should we do with this one?" The leader walked towards Cloud and his captor, "Hmm... This one seems strong and untainted... Send him to Stoneskin, I think that will do him good." The last Cloud saw of the clan leader was him watching them leave with a cruel smile.

The first thing Cloud learned was about Stoneskin was that he wasn't much for names, calling his new trainee Cloud. The second thing he learned was that Stoneskin didn't care much for hatchlings that were hatched outside of his clan. Stoneskin didn't only bring back a pitiful amount of food to share with the clans hatchlings that he was responsible for, he also made sure that Cloud wasn't aloud to eat until the clans hatchlings had their fill. After a few days starvation, Cloud resorted to eating plants instead of waiting for his turn, and if there was ever something left over for him, that was a bonus.

Other hatchlings would watch him as he ate plants and they would whisper, mostly about how he was still managing to live eating those things. Cloud would refuse to look at the other hatchlings as they attempted to get a reaction out of him. One day one of the biggest hatchlings stalked up to Cloud through the field he was eating from, then he pounced on Cloud, "Got you, just like the antelope you are!" Cloud looked up at him for a moment then back down, still pinned "What do you want? Why are you bothering me?" The other hatchling look down at Cloud beneath his claws, "Ooo the antelope can talk!" The little guardian raised his wings in triumph, "Why does an antelope want to know what a dragon wants? Dragons hunt antelope like you, why are you even staying here, you're not a real dragon?" Cloud jumped up and pushed the guardian off of him, "Just leave me alone, I'm not here to cause trouble. No one picks where they come from." This time when the guardian went to jump on him, Cloud was ready.

Cloud wrestled with the other hatchling striking out with everything he had. The guardian was caught off guard and was thrown back. Cloud wasted no time and leaped onto him, slashing and biting in a blind rage. The only thing that stopped him was Stoneskin. Stoneskin hit Cloud with his tail, and there was a reason his name was Stoneskin. Cloud was knocked unconscious. When he woke Cloud was on unfamiliar territory and didn't know where he was or what had brought him here, but he didn't have any other choice than to start surviving on his own.

Teen Years:

As Cloud grew up he had started hunting for himself, eating larger prey, and building his strength and skills. He taught himself how to stalk silently through different kinds of terrain. In his mind, Cloud thought that it would be safer for him to be able to out pace his prey than to simply overpower it, as this strategy would grant his enemies less of a chance to deal and real amounts of damage. While working on his skills near the edge of The Tangled Wood, Cloud was startled by a vibrant colored dragon that had somehow managed to go unnoticed.

"You have some talent there. What's your name?" The stranger said. Cloud looked at them, unsure if he could trust them yet, "How do I know I can trust you? No offence meant I just haven't had the best luck in finding trustworthy dragons." The strange Nocturne nodded knowingly, "I understand... I'm Flicker a stealth fighter, and a member of the Stealth Assault. We're looking for new recruits and I think you might have enough talent that with a little training, you could be a fairly decent stealth fighter yourself." Cloud look at this dragon with a realization that this might be his best shot at a good life. "I'm Cloud... I like the sound of this Stealth Assault group, tell me more."

Cloud and Flicker made there way into The Tangled Wood, and stopped in a clearing. In the clearing were several dragons, most in pairs with one young and one older dragon. Flicker got Cloud's attention, "Here is where we take our new trainees, and if you'd like, you'll be one of them." Cloud realized he'd been grinding his teeth again, "What do I need to do to join?" Flicker looked at him thoughtfully "For now, all you need to do is ask to join, we don't require anything out of young-lings who might not know for sure everything this group implies." Cloud looked around in wonder, "I'm in"

Adult

As Cloud trained with Flicker, he became better at staying hidden and he became faster. He even rose to surpass Flickers skill. On his last day of training with her, Flicker took him to the main hub for the Stealth Assault. When they first arrived Cloud was slightly surprised when he didn't see anyone, then he remember what group this was. Dragons slowly appeared out of the shadows to greet them.

"Greetings Cloud," A sturdy looking guardian approached them, "I've heard much about your skills and was waiting for your arrival." The rest of the dragons either looked on in silence or continued on with whatever they were doing before Cloud got there. Cloud was puzzled for a moment, "How, did you know my name?" The guardian smiled kindly, "You've made quite a name for yourself, and Flicker as well I suppose. You have quite the skills, and with the way your training has gone many are talking about you even challenging me." Cloud was mostly surprised, "Really? And, no offence, but who are you?" The guardian replied, "I'm the current leader of the Stealth Assault, Erebos."

Cloud was preparing for his final test before he became a real stealth fighter, he had to best one of the other stealth fighters in a real fight. Erebos came to meet with him. "Are you ready?" Cloud looked at him, "As ready as I can be.. I think. Can you tell me who I have to fight?" Erebos was watching Clouds movements as he paced, "You will be fighting one of my royal guard. You know, this is the highest ranking member of the Stealth Assault ever to fight with a trainee." Cloud stopped pacing, "What? Why does everyone expect so much from me? I don't know if I can beat them!" Erebos gently placed a wing against Clouds flank, "Cloud, I personally pick who the trainees fight. I pick someone that will be a challenge, but someone I think they can beat. If I didn't think you could win, I would never have picked them."

Cloud was called to his last test before he would be allowed into the Stealth Assault. He went to a small clearing where moonlight could fight its way down between the trees. He was met by a flame colored ridgeback. Erebos was sitting at the base of an ancient tree on the side of the clearing, "Flamespeaker, Cloud, you are both here to fight and prove your skills, now enough formalities, begin." With the final word spoken Flamespeaker and Cloud both dove for each other, slashing and biting. Cloud would dive in to attack, and Flamespeaker would counter. Cloud knew he was slightly faster, and he wasted no time. He got into a pattern, dive, attack, dodge, and soon Flamespeaker couldn't land anymore hits, "Stop, I yield!" Cloud stopped and Erebos motioned for two faes to move in and check the injuries, Erebos had a few words with Flamespeaker, then they walked up to Cloud. They only stared at each other for a moment, "I knew you were a great fighter, but this... was unexpected... Looks like I need to prepare for a worthy challenger..." and with this he left Cloud alone with the healers.

After Cloud had healed from his first test everyone was asking him when he would challenge Erebos. Cloud would keep telling them that he wasn't sure he wanted to lead this group so soon after being excepted as a part of it. One day however Erebos confronted Cloud, "You have proved yourself a worthy opponent, I'm ready if you feel you are." Cloud was stunned for a moment, "I didn't plan to challenge you. Why are you bringing this up?" Erebos sighed, "If we don't fight at some point there will always be unknown. I want to know if you truly are a more talented fighter than me." Cloud began fidgeting with a piece of ripped cloth, "I... I don't really know what to say..." Erebos nodded, "I understand your uncertainty, I remember the leader before me... she was strong and everyone was pushing us to fight... The Stealth Assault values strength... sometimes at their own cost, but you Cloud would be a good leader." Erebos looked as though they were lost in their past, "If you wont challenge me, then I will challenge you..."

Cloud went back to that clearing, this time he was met by Flamespeaker, Erebos was on the other side of the clearing. "You've bested me before and Erebos has challenged you to a duel for leadership. Normally the leader isn't allowed to challenge lower ranking members without a reason, but you have proven yourself as a worthy opponent. The whole Stealth Assault has gathered to witness the outcome of this battle." Erebos cut them off in their speech, "You know I'm not one for formalities.." Their voice had lost all of its past kindness. Cloud was waiting for the cue. Flamespeaker shrugged, "Very well, begin." Erebos lunged at Cloud, just as he had expected. Cloud dodged to the side landing a flurry of blows as Erebos's momentum carried them past. Cloud followed them slashing and biting with the speed and force of a whirlwind. After a moment, Erebos twisted to get a good bite in on Cloud, and he seemed to vanish. Erebos looked around for him, "You can't hide from me!" Clouds voice sounded wispy as he replied, "I think I already have.." Cloud waited for Erebos to turn their back, then he leaped out and pinned them to the ground, slashing and biting. Erebos's voice came out in a whisper "I... yield" Cloud let them up and the healers quickly rushed in, but not a single one went to Cloud. He checked himself over for injuries and found nothing, not a single scratch.

After a while had passed and Cloud had settled into the role of leader, he had one of his scouts come to him and told him of a clan that had been wiped out by beasts. "Well... I think I'll go check it out, see if theirs anything left for us. Anyone who can be spared and wants to come with is allowed as well." Cloud set out towards the Wanderer's Enclave with a small force behind him.

The Great Battle

He quickly realized that his scout was misinformed, the battle was still raging, "You know how to handle yourselves in a fight!" Then Cloud dove down to help the dragons that seemed to be having the most trouble. He slashed and beast after beast, saved some dragons, found out he was to late for others. The battle was starting to calm down, however slightly, and a golden coatl made his way to a center point to gain everyone's attention, "I'm Ruo and normally I would get into a long speech thanking everyone who showed up for the help, but we have some missing dragons. There's a golden coatl named Yeri, a blue guardian named Zembla, a blue and red fae called Philomena, and a white mirror named Skywall." The coatl stepped off to the side and Cloud walked up to him.

When Cloud reached him he said, "The Stealth Assault is with you, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?" The coatl seemed relieved, "I'm Ruo and you must be Cloud, I've heard of your skills. Thank you for coming, and I take it you want something." Cloud was taken aback slightly by this dragons coolness after his clan was destroyed, "Where should I look for these dragons that have gone missing?" Ruo thought for a moment, "I remember seeing a lot of beasts toward where the Sun would rise, maybe you could start there." With a nod Cloud took off toward an area decimated by several thousand beast claws.

As Cloud was searching he noticed a large number of dead beasts and flew in closer to take a look. He stepped carefully around the carcasses toward the center of the pile. He saw blood-soaked scales that used to be a brilliant white. The scales belonged to a mirror that was no longer able to fight another battle. Cloud moved to a good patch of soil and dug a proper grave for a warrior of Skywalls skill. He had never met Skywall before and had no real attachment but it is always a shame to see good warriors struck down. Cloud debated for a moment if he should just go back to Ruo and tell him what he has found so far, then he decided against it when he looked up and saw the outline of a crowned roc chasing something dragon sized.

Cloud dove in, this dragon could still be saved. He slashed, until the roc started to shift then he dove to a new spot, repeating this process until the the roc was no longer a threat. Cloud glided down to meet the dragon. "Are you hurt?" He asked, he had already been to late for to many dragons. She responded after she caught her breath, "I- I think so. I mean I think I'm ok, I don't think I was hurt." Cloud watched the relief on her face twist back to panic, "Did you see a golden feathered coatl, and was he alright?" Cloud knew he was going to have to tell this beautiful coatl that one of her clanmates was killed nearby, "Yes he's alright, he's a great fighter. Ah... I don't know how to break this to you, but there was another brilliant fighter out there who hadn't been so lucky..." She stuttered with a new wave of pain, "Who.. what... what.. who...?" Cloud started to pace as he told her of Skywall's fate, "I found Skywall's body, she didn't go down without a fight I'll have you know, she took several beasts with her.. I gave her a proper warriors burial and I'll show you were she is.." He broke off and looked at her, watched her come close to passing out from the shock. Then she started to sob uncontrollably. Cloud put her under his wing and gently guided her back home.

When they got back Ruo raced up to meet them, "Cloud, you found Yeri! Are you ok?" He frantically checked her for injuries before he settled down, "Now we only have to find Skywall, all the rest are... accounted for..." Cloud gently nudged Yeri towards Ruo and she buried her face in his wing. "I.. found Skywall's body out that way. I gave her a proper burial and I'll be sure to show you where she is." Ruo was shocked as well but he was able to handle the news better than Yeri. Before Ruo left to take care of his clanmates he said, "Cloud, if your Stealth Assault ever needs a place to stay, I'm sure the clan would be happy to offer you that much."

Now:

Cloud spends most of his days helping out with guarding the Wanderer's Enclave. He has slowly fallen for the golden coatl, Yeri, but he knows of her mate and wouldn't dream of ever messing things up between them. Cloud still runs the Stealth Assault, and no one seems keen on challenging him anytime soon. He will occasionally leave the Wanderer's Enclave for a few days but he has always returned after he has finished whatever business that he needed to deal with. He stays and watches for any hatchlings that could show potential as a stealth fighter, but none have shown up yet.
