Anubis has a job many have described as gross, creepy and down right weird. Anubis is the mortician, so to speak. It is a crucial yet sombre job that he takes very seriously. When a clan member has fallen, whether it be from age, sickness of violence, Anubis is the one who takes care of the body until it can be laid to rest. He cleans, mends and prepares them and watches over them in the days leading up to the ceremony. The bodies are often burned but some are transported to other lands to be laid to rest. A few are buried but only in the short summer months when the ground is supple enough to yield a plot big enough. Yet there is another side to Anubis and his job that very few know. Anubis can cross over to the other side and it’s also his job to escort the spirits of the deceased dragons onto their next big adventure. Anubis’s mate, Paradisi, works alongside him. Her kind heart helps remind him to not get lost in the world of death they so often find themselves. The dragons who don't know Anubis very well, he can come across as cold and rude. However, those who do know him see behind the mask to his golden heart that overflows with compassion and a thirst for life, love and his job. If you were to ask any dragon in the Ice Lands, who is the best and who would you trust to get you through saying goodbye to those you loved, the answer would be the same. Anubis. |
