THE UNCOLOURED SOUL

He began life in a caravan. His parents were figments of a far off memory that he couldn't grasp. He remembered their names, and that they loved him, but ever since he hit his head the memories have gotten weaker. The accident caused his family and tribe to leave him in the care of a medical clan. Sad to see them go, Klavir did as the tribe leader asked: get smart and do some good. Klavir did not argue with such orders. The clan he was with offered him many treasures such as books, scrolls, research, tools, anything he needed to improve his own skills. These items were his personal treasures, things he loved dearly. Once he got what he could, however, he moved away to further his studies. He found himself in clan after clan, land after land. His knowledge only grew with the practice he was getting from the others. Everything that he witnessed was helping him with his endeavors. Yet there was something that had been bothering him. He got a letter one day about a dragon looking for a colleague. Someone to work with. The letter was sent out to every intelligent scientist. Klavir responded and soon got accepted to work with the renowned Ptolemy. Klavir gathered his thing and left to go study with the other dragon. So many things could be learned!

Upon arrival, he found himself welcomed by the clan with open arms and a lot of work waiting for him. Little did Klavir know that he was an assistant, but at least he was being respected for his skills and intelligence. He gained a lot of new treasures during his first few weeks as well. Books, scrolls, data, everything he could gather. Ptolemy never questioned Klavir's desire to gain knowledge, nor his desire to make copies of everything the older scientist had on file. This worked for them both for a while until Euclid arrived, although at the time she was Changaris. Klavir had to admit that he had feelings for her, but he saw the love in her eyes whenever she talked to Ptolemy. Klavir, being the gentlemen he was, decided to ignore his own feelings. If the protege was happy, then who was he to complain?

Then that day came. Euclid got stuck in a laboratory accident. Klavir and Lancelot, the assistant of the assistants, dragged her out from the fire and Ptolemy remade her. The one Klavir had loved had changed beyond measure. She changed physically, for the most part. Her personality was the same, but the fact remained that Klavir lost someone close and special to him. He lost the original friend he had, but he didn't mind the new one. Euclid was alive and well, and Ptolemy helped save her. That was what mattered, right? That is what Klavir tells himself. The truth is, things had gotten tense with him recently. He feels almost like he's not doing his work fast enough. Euclid is still far behind him in skill, but this urge to do better keeps nagging at him. Thankfully, Lancelot is always there for Klavir to let off steam to. The particle machine is always willing to listen and offer advice when he is asked. Klavir realizes this feeling is just something he manifested due to stress. His partners are wonderful, and he loves his job, but he needs a break one day.

The clan is still supportive, thankfully. Klavir couldn't imagine being anywhere else than here. His work, his friends, all of it has made traveling so far worth it. He has finally found a place that he can call his home. While he himself is still trying to gain as much knowledge as possible, he is happy to say that he is thankful for the chance to stay here. He has the same wish as Ptolemy: to leave the clan better than when they found it. The goal has been coming true with creatures like Lancelot, the particle machines. Some of them being the best warriors the clan has ever seen, others being helpers to others. Klavir has to say, though, that he is proud of Lancelot. The particle machine has always been helpful to them all. Never would Klavir even suggest getting rid of the machine. Without Lancelot, who knew where the labs would be?
