Biography

Quote:
Vekaveb and Shortscale were out hunting during what Sornieth had dubbed the “Night of the Nocturne” when they stumbled across a pair of abandoned Nocturne eggs. After some deliberation, the two decided to bring the small clutch of eggs back to Nosey, their clan’s matriarch.
Nosey, aghast at the fact that these two eggs had been abandoned, quickly organized room for them in one of their Water nests. They were close to hatching, so Nosey herself tended to them in those final few days before their hatchdays.
Soon enough, two male Nocturnes tumbled out of the eggs. The first one -older by a day- was named Kyldathar, while the second was named Corporal. From the beginning they both showed an aptitude for fighting (perhaps due to one of the notorious Nocturne feedback loops, but they both seemed to be enjoying themselves). It was easy to find suitable dragons for both of them to apprentice under.

Corporal, unlike his brother, was more interested in the defensive aspect of fighting than the offensive. In his adolescence he trained under Nightfall -one of the clan’s sentinels- and quickly became quite good at it thanks to his mimicry of Nightfall’s talent. It wasn’t all artifice, though, for when he finally became a sentinel himself and took on his own patrol route further out than Nightfall’s, his skills persisted. Though no longer Nightfall’s student, the two remain good friends. (Nightfall forgives the fact that Corporal sometimes uses his own voice when answering him, as weird as it might be.)

The thought of a mate, or even a wide circle of friends isn’t too appealing to Corporal. He prefers the peaceful quiet of his patrol route close to the border of the clan’s territory most of the time, though he sometimes surprises his clanmates with how good he is at cracking jokes in a hilariously deadpan manner.
Despite his more withdrawn personality, though, Corporal would give his life for his clan in a heartbeat. Even before he became an apprentice sentinel, he adored his adopted family and would try and look after all of them. Corporal also remains close with his far more chaotic older brother, though sometimes he has to take responsibility and knock some sense into him. Kyldathar may be faster and stronger when they spar, but Corporal usually beats him in the end due to his skill at strategy (much to Kyldathar’s chagrin). It’s rather humorous for the rest of the clan to witness.
