Hydrangea really cares about how he looks, this probably comes from the fact that he is pink. That and his brother Layet, a very good twin brother, who kept teasing him about his coloration. While Hydrangea just wanted to enjoy the Southern Icefields, more specifically the Frigid Floes, Layet just wanted to help serve the Icewarden. Being louder and more dominant Layet got his Cloudeyes and Magma, their mom and dad, to train them. Hydrangea soon dropped out and started collecting clothes. The rest of the clan thinks he is a little kooky, but most of the time he doesn't buy the clothes, they are just in the clan hoard. Skjaldborg does not seem to like having to let him in and out of the hoard when he is trying to guard. Especially after some stuff has gone missing.

Weither or not Hydrangea is in a romantic relation ship with his fishes is unknown
