Faran

Faran keeps watch over the Homestead at night, both to protect the clan, but also to greet road-weary travelers and lead them to a safe place they can spend the night. He is accompanied by a Gloomwillow Guide and a Lux Spectre, two small phantoms that warn of him of incoming friends or danger.

Born on the final night of the year to the Wind flight, the young Faran struck out into the world as Wind dragons are want to do. While in the Tangled Wood, he'd gotten into some serious trouble with some particularly violent Beastclan members. He fought and fought but the numbers were too great. On the brink of being overwhelmed, Audra and Ivy, who were training some exaltees in the woods, stumbled across this one dragon army. They jumped straight into the fray and the battle was ultimately won, though Faran sustained grievous injuries. He was taken back to the Water's Edge clan and healed. As he healed, Audra said she had never seen a dragon fight as cunningly and swiftly as he had in nearly complete darkness. "I need a dragon like you," she said, "to be our nighttime watchman. We are a smaller clan, and being from Wind I know you like to adventure, but if you stay here and become my nighttime guardian, we can house and feed you. If you want too, you can help train exaltees which means traveling all over Sorienth. What do you say?" Faran agreed and is now second in command to Audra as far as protecting the clan goes.

Faran has picked up astronomy during his long nights and his star maps keep the clan on track whenever they have to take up long journeys to the other parts of Sorienth. He finds peace in accurately recording the movement of the stars and laughs whenever a dragon asks if he gets lonely at night. "No. I have have my family behind me that I'm protecting, and friends above me that I'm just getting to know!"
