Born with the ability to manipulate her surroundings, she left her birth clan far earlier than most. Projecting powerful illusions that could fool even the most perceptive of dragons, she believed she could gain status, riches and anything she could ever desire.
Illusion creation came to her as naturally as breathing and she soon grew bored of the endless supply of riches and trinkets supplied by those she had enchanted. A mixture of curiosity, arrogance and lack of supervision led her spiralling into darker deeds; tearing lovers and families apart, starting wars between peaceful clans and emptying swathes of prized vaults.
Still, she was not satisfied. No amount of treasure, jewels, unfaltering followers or lovers fulfilled her. It was all false. With enough distance and time away from her, those she had bewitched would regain their ability to distinguish reality from fantasy and the truth of her actions were known. Many grew angry, resenting her and calling for her execution but none could apprehend her, the illusions too powerful to break past.
Uranus, a travelling seer, learnt of her crimes and felt compelled to stop her. Her path through Sornieth had left a broken, angry tear growing wider with every passing day as she unlocked more power and created ever-growing levels of destruction. It did not take him long to find her, his own abilities guiding his way and giving him greater insight into her true motivations and state of mind.
He confronts her, face to face, and to both their surprise they discover he is immune to her manipulation, his magic granting him the skill to discern reality from her projections. The shock of an individual able to see through her deception and confront her with the painful truth of her deeds sends her into an uncontrollable fury, fighting viciously to make him leave. He refuses and insists there is another way to find the happiness she seeks. He offers to teach her and to show her another, kinder way to use her skills. Despite her best attempts, she is unable to convince him to give up his ideal and no matter how cruel she is, he persists. Eventually, she relents and agrees to let him try.
He teaches her about magic, all he knows of her own and of Sornieth, encourages her to engage with other dragons (without illusions) and how her powers can be used to help and heal. She finds purpose in her actions, relishing the genuine joy and gratitude of those she assists and warmth in the pride Uranus has for her changing persona.
Uranus learns of Astraea and her clan, particularly their pursuit of magical knowledge. They decide to join them, offering their skills as forms of defence for the airship, Uranus able to foresee dangers and Jubilant using her illusions to cloak the airships presence and divert attention from their location. The airship in turn provides a safe home where they can live peacefully, Jubilant becoming a mentor for young and powerful mages and protect them from those who would wish them harm, Jubilant having gained many enemies in her life most of whom do not believe she has truly changed her ways.
