Legend tells that the first Poltergeist came into existence after a massacre, when a grieving survivor pleaded for help from the Plaguebringer while holding the broken pearl of her mate. Since then, the Mother of Pestilence saw fit to aid all those requesting revenge by delivering upon them the deformed soul of their loved ones. These volatile phantoms only hold the memories of their slaughter and the angered sorrow of their summoner. They are completely tangible, so as to carry out their twisted justice. A violent breed, they exist so long as their summoner desires and cannot be destroyed before that dragon decides to release them.

Poltergeist are characterized, primarily, as stoic. Because they are essentially a clean slate upon their summoning as a spirit, they have no emotions to express until ones are instilled in them: namely anger and sorrow. Because of this, they tend to be somewhat tormented souls and can sometimes be a hot mess of terrible emotions if the summoner dragon is incapable of focusing on anything other than grief. When reborn, they inherit either the jumble of emotions of their summoner or the stoic nature of their initial rise, though it is colored by a more normal, well-rounded personality than the spirit itself displays. The most notable of qualities among this subspecies is its entitled sense of justice which stems from its original creation. Many of them believe that punishments should be swift and severe for certain acts and that Poltergeist should be the ones to carry them out. They are an incredibly loyal breed, however, and will obey without question whoever they deem worthy of their charge, often the leader of the clan.
