❧ pink neon decadence ....Between Pegasus’s adoring public and downtown penthouse, Chanyoul doesn’t often mind sharing his life—and his body—with the cheonho that would have otherwise killed him. Pegasus’s name, voice, and smile (everything his fans love about him, really) may no longer belong to Chanyoul, but Hyojoon and Gongyoon still do, and that’s what matters most. Everything else can de dealt with by way of thousand-dollar champagne. Actually, Chanyoul relishes the irreverent shade of honesty in his stage persona. There’s nothing inherently untruthful in marketing Pegasus’s almost supernatural stardom as his own, and Chanyoul likes to think that it’s the open-endedness of their convoluted relationship that their audience finds so riveting. He likes that they’ve fallen in love with his permanently-affixed mask. He likes that, as much as they think they know him, they will never know him as intimately as he knows himself (newfound flesh-eating habit and all). —At least, that’s the version of the story Chanyoul weaves for himself. He stamps out jealousy like a still-burning cigarette under a designer boot, disgusted with unsightliness of insecurity and addiction. Try as he might, it always comes back, catching fire in even the dankest of undergrowth. As the flames lick ever higher, he tries once again to drown them in thousand-dollar champagne (to little avail).
