Aurelia was born amongst the Foxfire Brambles of the Tangled Wood, the second youngest in a clutch of five. However, unlike her parents and siblings, she would not remain in the woods. In her stirred a magical potential, so she was sent to be fostered in the Crystalspine Reaches.

But a parent's wishes aren't always heeded.

Aurelia shirked her magical studies, always finding new and inventive ways to avoid her mentor, Cygnus. It was never difficult to find her again, as she always ended up in the training grounds, watching the clan's warriors practice their battle formations. After Daemon stepped down from leading the clan's elite, a position on the team opened and Aurelia was determined to make it hers.

She was a Skydancer, and naturally frail, but after scraping together some pieces of armour that glistened like her crystal hide, she was ready for the tryouts. Her dreams wouldn't be realized, however, losing out to the Matriarch's grandson, Vesuvius. Unlike her, he was strong--born in the Abiding Boneyard, eyes red from Plague--a survivor. A warrior. Perhaps if she had not ignored her magical studies, she could have been picked up as an aspiring magelet, but neither strength nor magics made her stand out as a candidate.

Dejected, she was determined to prove herself. To show them that she could join the clan's warriors in the Coliseum. When the Arcane Hunger Games began their reaping, she volunteered for the clan. Cygnus tried to persuade her not to go, but was silenced by Daemon. If Aurelia wanted to do this, it would be her choice.

She was ready for the thrill of battle, but once the game began and the other twenty-three dragons were released, she realized how unprepared she was. She grabbed a bag of supplies and ran. Four nights passed as dragons fought, killed, and were killed. Aurelia manged to avoid conflict, but eventually came the fifth day and only she and another Skydancer were left. He stood over the slashed body of Coatl. It was him or her, but even then the will to harm wasn't in her. She had to find another way.

It was then, as the male Skydancer faced her, an inner magic resonated within her, reacting to the gold coins scattered across the battlefield. Her element. She reached out and touched the other dragon, and in an instant he turned to gold. And like that, it was over. She had won. Aurelia returned to her adoptive clan in Arcane, bearing the boons of her triumph, and a curiosity in her magical potential. She had a long way to go before she could be considered to join the clan's warriors, but at the very least she would settle in to study magics with Cygnus. For a little while, at least.
