Biography
Columbiana
Pronounced "coll-uhm-bee-AHN-ah"
Named for the Tundra Swan
Cygnus colombianus
"swan" + "from Columbia"
❀ Species Profile & Conservation Status ❀
Least Concern The Tundra Swan is a small swan widely distributed across the Northern Hemisphere. These migratory birds nest in the Arctic and subarctic tundra, and winter in grasslands and marshlands south of their breeding habitat. This is the most common swan species in North America, although western populations have been in slow decline since the 19th century.
Fun Fact: Both Tundra Swan parents work together to build the nest, which consists of a mound of grasses, sedges, lichens, and mosses. They will often reuse the nest in subsequent seasons.
Columbiana made Owl Wood her home in January, 2016
In her home clan of the Southern Icefields, Columbiana was the most creative dragon aside from her parents who were creative in other ways. Where her mother and father were scientifically minded, Columbiana was poetically minded. From her pen comes fountains of words that ripple into the echos of beauty. The expanse of ice in her home comes out strongly in her poetry. Imagery of snow comes first into her work, followed by her current clan's surroundings.
With her amazing skill she has charmed many dragons into her company. Despite her strange coatl language, even dragons who are not coatls enjoy listening to her poetry. Unfortunately, she doesn't know how to translate her poetry into other dragon languages so those without an understanding of coatl tongue wont know what she is saying and may be put off by the strange humming.
Columbiana enjoys collecting beautiful stones and insects, leaving her to fend faes off when they threaten to eat her hoard. Most of her time is spent scribbling poetry on the heaps of parchment in her den, which she then reads at the end of the day to dragons who have finished their work.

❀ Exile Subspecies Lore ❀
(Lore by Keet) The Exiles are a collective of coatls exiled due to their pale colouration. Nobody knows how this group came to exist or what their goals are, although rumours whispered by speculative dragons late into the night abound. Some believe them to be a secret Flight. Others suspect them to be vampires, some other form of undead, or necromancers. Still others speculate that they could be agents of the Shade, and others still that they are a band of shady missionary mercenaries (I meant mercenaries! Wait, wait, come back! I meant mercenaries!) and/or assassins, though they are unable to give examples of them taking any contracts or link them to any form of violence. There are even proponents of the (plainly ludicrous) theory that they merely banded together with the only other dragons who would accept them for mutual protection and company. Many combine multiple theories, suggesting that they’re a cult of vampire-necromancer-assassins who serve the Shade.
Physical Attributes: The Exiles have white-range (Maize-Silver) primary colours, with secondary colours from Maize-Shadow and tertiary colours ranging from Rose-Shadow. There are reports of Exiles with dull primaries from other colour ranges as well (such as beige, sky, and ivory), but these are yet to be confirmed. Most have their tertiary genes expressed in some form, and this generally increases the social standing of Exiles among others of their own kind. Dragons of other species with similar colouration who have sought them out have been known to be accepted as honorary Exiles, though this is rare, as not many dragons wish to be associated with a group of exiles.
Social: The Exiles keep to themselves for the most part. This tendency towards quietness, produced by their condition as exiles, combined with their refusal to discuss anything relating to the Exiles with outsiders has lent them a mysterious aura, one that in truth they cultivate. In the minds of many dragons, the association between pale coatls and death lends them a mystical quality, which can be emphasised by their mysteriousness. Many clans come to view them as shamanesque figures, going to them for spiritual advice and seeing them as a link between the worlds of the living and the dead.
Lairs: The Exiles have an odd relationship with other clans of dragons. While most dragons are uncomfortable with Exiles, they are also fascinated by them. Many believe it is good luck to have an Exile in the lair, and many also believe the converse – that turning away an Exile will bring a curse upon any clan that does so. Exiles rarely ask permission to join a clan or even formally introduce themselves, they simply show up one day and start working with the other members of the clan. They never explain why they have chosen to join that particular clan, and it would be considered rude to ask in any case.
The Exiles also have their own lair hidden in the depths of the mist of the Blacksand Annex, which serves as a central hub from which members are free to come and go as they please.

Exalting Columbiana to the service of the Gladekeeper will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
