Avicennia is the official clan scribe. She takes notes in important meetings, and creates all official documents that the clan uses in trade, diplomacy, and law-making. She sees calligraphy as her art and calling, and when she has free time she draws and scribes for her clanmates in trade for necessities and luxuries.

Botanically, Avicennia are the mangrove trees. Mangroves are known for creating their ecosystem - they are one of the few groups of plants to create their own biome. They are commonly known as "api api," which in the Malay language means "fires", a reference to the fact that fireflies often congregate on these trees.
