From her grouchy demeanour and rather standoffish attitude, you wouldn't expect that Demari is actually a very talented doctor. The Pearlcatcher has spent her whole life training her medical skills, to the point of earning a reputation for being incredibly good at mending ailments. She can even use her magic in order to heal wounds, a power which has earned her quite a well-established role within the Unknowns.
While she is usually rather irritable in tone, Demari is rather caring and hates seeing others hurt or in pain. She will immediately go to aid or comfort someone in need, even when she herself is not in good shape, and as a result rarely eats or sleeps. This is probably why she is so grumpy.
Grumpiness aside, you won't find a more competent doctor within the Hewn City.
