His father chose exaltation when he was young, and his mother then entrusted him to the care of Mirathorn. Mirathorn has not told Hadrian his parents' true names, only descriptions of them, so he will be less likely to leave and claim his birthright in a merciless clan of Imperials. Even so, all other dragons respect him, not only for his highborn blood but because he now serves as High Queen Mirathorn's right hand, representing her among other clans and making territorial decisions with her. Though he battles as a knight, he does not serve under Knight Commander Zhanethyn, due to his immediate rank with Mirathorn. His lover is Antinous, who was given to him by Mirathorn as gratitude for his services, and Hadrian counts Antinous as his most precious possession. He has no interest in female dragons, but counts himself the father of Adair, Antinous's own hatchling.
