Waves, lapping at his feet, they were the first thing he knew. The small guardian was alone in the tsunami flats, his broken egg quickly washed away by the sea. He bounced between the shallow pools, poking at anything he saw, chasing small fish and collecting unusual shells he found. It was weeks before he even saw another dragon, and in his youth he rushed towards them, splashing through the water. The older guardian and his young charge, an imperial were shocked by the hatchling. While his body resembled that of a guardian his wings were made of flowing water, foaming from constant waves, seaweed clung to his back along his spine, some growing directly into his wings. The guardian was weary, trying to keep his charge away from him.
“Dear he’s obviously lost, the nearest clan is miles from here” She reached a hand out to pet his head, before carefully stroking his wings. They rippled under her touch and her claws came away dripping with sea water.
“Hes obviously been abandoned for a reason” The guardian pulled his charge closer, wrapping a wing around her for protection, “No child should look like that, maybe water got to his egg” The hatchling sat watching the conversation, not entirely sure what they were talking about, he quickly became distracted by the imperials clothes, expensive silks edged with gems. He peered into the faceted stones, and many versions of him peered back. The surface swirled and a strange dragon appeared to him, a hatchling green and covered in feathers with hurt eyes, but the image disappeared and was replaced by his own reflection.

“You said you wanted to start a clan”
“I meant with our own children not random hatchlings we found in the ocean” The imperial scooped him up, cooing at him and tickling his fins. The guardian sighed,
“You are responsible for him” The imperial smiled, placing a soft kiss to his cheek “Now let's get home before we find any more strays” He grumbled, they set off again, heading to the cliffs where their small lair was located, it was a while before the imperial spoe, still cooing over her new child.
“I think I’ll call you Neptune”

He grew quickly under the Imperials close watch, she taught him as she would any child, starting with the basics of speech then moving onto manners and magic. She brought him up to be a proper gentleman, her imperial heritage making itself known with her attention to detail. The guardian refused to have anything to do with him, calling him it and thing. His attitude made worse by the arrival of his own children. The group of young hatchlings wanted nothing more than to play with the adopted brother, but their father would not let him contaminate his young. His mother started teaching him in secret, about magic and the Tidelord. When his magic outstriped hers, she tried to hire a tutor.
“I will not have you spending any more treasure on that abomination”
“He is my son!” The imperial yelled “He deserves as much as his brother do”
“He deserves nothing, we rescued him from the flats and all he has done is cause mayhem with his magic and wings”
“That's why he needs a teacher, someone to help him control it”
“Soon he will be old enough to feel the pull and he will no longer want you” He growled,

The imperial sobbed
“Why do you hate him so much?”
“He is not natural, all your etiquette lessons will be for nothing when he turns into a monster” The guardian moved closer, his voice dangerously low, “He will be go, or I will, charge or not”
Unbeknownst to them, Neptune had heard the whole argument. The next day he wasn't surprised when his mother said they were going for a trip, neither was he when her usual dainty bag had been replaced with a much sturdier one. They travelled to the edge tsunami flats, where he had first been found. The adolescent dragon was nearly the same size as his adopted mother, his beard was coming through, the same magical water as his wings. When the pair landed, the imperial had tears in her eyes. She pulled off her bag and gently placed it on Neptune. From one of its pockets she pulled out a necklace, crafted from the shells he had kept gathering. She placed it around his neck, straightening it gently.
“Now” She said, her voice thick “When you feel a pull in your mind, follow it and when you find your charge love it, love it more than anything else, and never let it get hurt, even by you” Tears fell freely, “And you follow them, never the other way around” She pressed a light kiss to his forehead, “Stay safe Neptune, I will always love you”
With that she left, leaving the young guardian all alone for the second time in his life. He wandered the flats for months, until he became bored, Neptune swam further into the sea, going as far as the spire, from a distance he watched the other clans going about their day. As he watched he learned, many of the clans near the spire had seers, and soon he had learnt all there was to know, and a strange feeling in his mind made itself known. It felt like it was pulling him in all directions. He tried to focus, it was like there was multiple threads, all trying to guide him to different directions.

He sat in the small cave he was currently staying in and peered into the makeshift pool he had created, he pulled on magic trying to direct it to the threads. The pool shimmered, magic infusing with the water, distorted images of strange dragons appeared, most were much younger, hatchlings with large lost eyes, all clearly different to those that surrounded them. One was cloaked in shadows, he appeared to be the oldest, mischievous purple eyes watched the world around him. He focused on a small fae, he watched as he and his mate fled from a pack of beasts, he knew he was seeing the future and he didn't know where they currently were. He picked the thread in his mind linked to the fae, with all his energy he focused on it, trying to block the others out. With a vague direction, he packed his few belonging and left the cave, heading for the surface of the sea and hopefully to a new life.

Neptune flew for days, finding the dragons his only thought. Images of pain and loneliness kept appearing in his mind, the horrible lives of the others, abuse at the hands of others purely because they were different. He became obsessed needing to prevent further hurt. He ignore the storm brewing in the horizon, Neptune fought the strong winds trying to force him off course, the rain pelting his scales meant nothing to him, despite the acid bite it had from the plaguelands below him. Lightning flashed near him finally he aimed for the relative safety of the gorge that separates the tangled woods and the wasteland. He wasn't fast enough, lighting struck his leg, pain coursing through his body and the world went black.

Jaka had been watching the storm from the safety of the lair, his usual perch on the rocks jutting from the entrance were flooded with water, a boom of thunder and he suddenly felt very grateful for the stone walls surrounded them. The clan had already retreated to the deeper parts of the lair, the rainwater starting to lap at his claws, if the storm continued much longer, the lair would become flooded. Still he felt compelled to watch the gorge today, his charges were safe inside but something wanted him here.
A flash of lightning lit up the sky, illuminating the silhouette of guardian, another flash and an agonizing scream echoed through the gorge, Jaka stood, and the dragon tumbled from the sky. He didn't think just lept from safety, claws outstretched ready to catch the other despite him equaling his size. He caught the guardian, his claws grasping at his torso, with another roar he flew the dragon to the ledge of the lair, landing heavily shouting for the clans healer.

Sylvesti the clan's leader appeared first, rushing to the pair, she yelped when she saw the torn scales oozing blood on the unfamiliar dragons leg. Shadowtaker was right behind her, she only needed to look at the wound and she was shouting for help. The small clan was soon all helping to carry the injured dragon into the lair. Shadowtaker started on the wound, Sylesti listening to the healers direction closely, following every instruction to the letter until the bleeding had been stopped. Finally they topped long enough to take in the scene in front of them. His wings were certainly unusual, the seaweed they had thought was simply decoration was rooted in his scales

He drifted in and out of consciousness, mumbling words and names that no-one could understand. It took the healer the entire night to calm him, attending his wounds as best she could. He didn't wake fully for a week. When he finally woke he leapt to his feet, tearing the stitches in his leg forcing him to cry out in pain, alerting the entire clan to his awakening. Sylvesti was the first to his side, desperately trying to calm the panicked guardian as he trashed about in fear. His large body knocked his bed across the room, his tail, destroying beakers on the shelves around him. Finally he noticed the much smaller wildclaw.
“Where am I wildclaw, what is this place?” His deep voice booming in the small room
“Safe” She kept her voice level “You are safe, please calm down” He stopped for a moment and looked around
“Really?”
“Yes just rest, you’ve ripped your stitches” He finally took notice of his wounded leg, the large cuts had reopened, blood staining his scales, “Sit down” She said firmly, and isntanly he sat, with him no longer causing damage, Shadowtaker moved to his leg from where she had been winching at the destruction of her infirmary. She started re-stitching the wound, covering it with a healing salve. As she worked Sylvesti explained how he ended up in their lair,.
“I thank you Sylvesti, but I must be on my way” He stood abruptly, throwing the poor mirror to the other side of the room. “I have my charges to find” The small mirror had had enough, she may have been a fraction of his size, but it was her infirmary, and he was her patient.
“Sit” She commanded “You are going nowhere until that leg is healed” The guardian looked over to her,
“The others are alone, they are in danger”
“Then we will help you find them, but right now you are in danger of a major infection” The mirror placed a heavy hand on his thigh “Sit or I will make you sit” She growled The guardian sat without question, watching the mirror work.
“Who are the others” Sylvesti questioned
“Shaman” Neptune answered, unsure where the word had come from, “Dragons blessed with the power of their flight, but cursed to never know a normal life” The guardian looked more surprised at the words than the wildclaw did.

“Rest” She said “Rest then we will find them, there will be a home for all of you here”
“You can’t mean that”
“I do, whatever happens this clan will do its best to help those who need it”
“Then I am forever in your debt Wildclaw”

Neptune has just settled down giving toya and basalt space, he peers into the his scrying pool and eyes peer back

Neptune sighed as he entered his chamber, he hadnt been sure that Basalt would stay, but he had seemed to form an instant connection with Toya, so there was hope he would. The large pool of water in the center of his chamber reflected beautiful patterns on the walls and low ceiling. He lay down next to the pool his tail skimming along the surface, watching the ripples form. He mostly used the pool for Scrying, his seer powers relying on his connection to water, but it als kept him calm and grounded. Even as far away from the water as he felt in the plaguelands, it was nice to have part of the sea with him. He peered over the edge of the pool, staring into its crystal clear waters. Eyes stared back. He frowned, he watched as magic coalesced in front of him, forming into a shape rising from the water. The pool swirled around the new shape, a torso, clutching a spear and shield. An elemental.

“Hello my dear” He greeted the elemental kidley, having met them before on his travels. “What brings you to my pool” The elemental bowed, crossing his spear against his chest
“I wish” The elemental said, its voice distorted as if talking under water “I wish for you to be my master”
“Well that's a strange request” He replied, shocked that it had asked. Elementals tended to be fiercely independent, attacking dragons that came into their territory, or at least that's what people though.
“You created me” The elemental stated “Your magic woke me up, please may I stay” The guardian didnt have to think before he answered.
“Of course little one” He stood offering a large paw to the creature “Shall I introduce you to my friends?”
