Ever since Atlas was born, just a wyrm not even a day old, he had been a little bit off. An aura of darkness surrounded his being, and dragons instinctively shifted their eyes away, took a step back from the hatchling. From day one, something was wrong with him, something broken and irreparable. Fear and unease followed him like a ghost throughout his childhood, chasing the ones he loved away. Sometimes Atlas would fly into a rage, snapping at the air around him, trying to rid himself of the shadows that clung to him. It wouldn't be long before he would accept that his only companion would be loneliness, and he would give in to the pain and suffering that accompanied him. In those years, something inside Atlas shattered. He had finally accepted what he was.

By the time he came to the city of Carpe Diem, Atlas was not the misunderstood dragon that he had been before. The depths of his black heart drove him to get revenge at the world. He was at the point of no return, and the citadel was niave enough to believe their kindness would be enough to change him.

The truth is, the world is filled with the power-hungry and manipulative. They contaminate all that is good, infecting the earth like parasites. They feed off of the innocent, they thrive on the pure. In the end, Carpe Diem's efforts to keep corrupt monsters like these out of the citadel were futile. Atlas kept a watchful eye, dormant, waiting for the chance to strike. When the moment presented itself, his venom spread deep within the clan's veins. With his twisted, influential nature, he became sole leader of Carpe Diem. He was only a shell of a dragon by now, and he would inflict the pain he had felt for all those years.

Still, a glimmer of hope danced in the hearts of the clan's members. Try as he might, Atlas could—and would never be able to—snuff it out. The darkness had taken whatever little there was of his former remains, and truthfully, he wasn't strong enough to keep on going. Though his reign over the citadel lasted long enough to leave psychical and psychological scars behind, in the end, good would conquer.

Now Atlas will see only the dark stone walls of his cell in the clan's dungeons; he will feel only the cold embrace the sins he committed. Forevermore.
