"Are you willing to make a wager?"
The first dragon to have joined Banshee since Screech, Hex is an energetic, abrasive Spiral straight from the Emberglow Hearth, and left the Fire Flight's territory when she came of age. Why? No one's exactly sure why the hair-trigger tempered dragon fled one night and never looked back, instead journey for weeks until she ended up in The Scarred Wasteland after a terrible storm, and injured her wing. Found by the pair of Guardians, the Spiral was taken in rather abruptly, and informally, as neither Guardian really said she could stay, but neither shook off her presence either.
Like most Spirals, Hex has come to adopt the behavior of her companions--going so far as to mimic Banshee's body language or clicks, confusing poor Screech into having to work twice as hard. When not perpetually perplexing the male Guardian, Hex stays around the leader, or at least whom she considers the leader, Banshee. While the elderly Guardian does nothing to refute or confirm the idea, Hex is aching to make the Guardian just say so--she wants to know the roles of those who are in this small clan. As far as the trio goes, Hex has appointed herself the Scout of the group, keeping an eye out for danger and then reporting back to Screech (first), and then to Banshee with the body formations that the Guardian uses, although Hex has added a few signals of her own to the mix.
Why does this work so well? It may have to do with the fact that Hex is unable to speak, which forced her to learn how to communicate with others in a different way. It was for this reason that she was partially shunned by her Clan mates, and ignored by her father, however, Hex has, although not putting it behind her, does tend to forcefully ignore it, fantasizing instead that her family was just like any other, and didn't tend to neglect her at times, often making excuses for them in her head. There, she rarely communicated with the others, only beginning to do so here, which may play a part in her enthusiasm to communicate with old Banshee.
Aside from being the Clan Scout, Hex is also a regular prankster, playing tricks on others and making a game of surprising other dragons. To her, it's the expressions on their faces that get her excited, more than the mechanisms of the games themselves. Additionally, Hex is a Spiral that falls easily in love, and in her time spent with the Guardian, Banshee, Hex has found herself more and more enamored with the Guardian. Although she has struck a friendship with Screech, she tends to ignore him in favor of a far quieter companion that is seemingly content to allow her to stick around, even if all Banshee does is tuck the Spiral under her wing during the night, allowing the smaller dragon to saccess readily available shelter.
