Biography
"Never a stone to tell."
Name & Title: Pith, Plaguelands chronicler
Bio: His crumbling body was discovered within the depths of the plague territory within the abiding boneyard. His bones were harvested by the carrion siblings and added to their pits that they use to ambush intruders. Over the course of several days Pith regenerated causing quite an alarm to be raised. This was the first time the clan was responsible for his death. Though it took significant force as normal physical techniques proved ineffective. The clan matriarch took note of the invader's fortitude and immediately had the corpse brought into the lair for study. During initial study it was immediately obvious Pith was unnatural, where flesh had been punctured nothing but stone dust flowed out. More intrusive study found a hollow shell with little more than bones that were chipped and fractured. In fact most of the outer layers of what would be muscle and skin were comprised of compacted sand or flaking stone. The only other major discovery was a lump of rock vaguely resembling a heart with several veins of luminescent crystal running through it. Attempts to break the rock apart were met with failure and so it was determined to study it for its potential magical properties. Gernsabella spent several weeks studying the object while keeping it isolated via the Scribe's stasis chamber. Over this time it was discovered that the bones it was separated from were decaying rapidly and fragments of the skeleton were assembling around it. Through the course of a month Pith completely reformed within the stasis chamber as he had been when encountered outside the lair. When brought out of stasis and questioned it became abundantly clear that Pith was not fully in control. His memory does not include how he came to be in the state he is, but it is clear he is quite ancient. Pith can vividly recall details for events decades before clan Gernsabella existed and has been quite useful for recovery efforts of artifacts in plague's territory. He, however, is compelled to roam the wastes, finding corpses and learning of their lives. Simple contact with a corpse is all he needs to learn of their life. The current theory is that he is the subject of a curse, but the reason is unknown. Ahmaladeus has promised to help rid him of the curse in exchange for his assistance in all manner of dangerous tests. Research into the magic that sustains him is currently a low priority, his ability to obtain secrets from dead rivals is too valuable to lose. The problem is his inability to stay in one place, it would seem his curse makes him seek out the dead. Luckily Gernsabella has the service of Belladonna who is more than capable of tracking him when needed. Pith is kind, despite the morbid task he's been given. Possibly centuries worth of knowledge and living have given him unique wisdom. Always willing to talk as he knows the ones he seeks aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Special: Heart of Stone - Pith has no vital organs making potentially fatal blows far less damaging than it would be if he was still truly alive.
Denied Finale Rest - Pith will regenerate from his remains over a long period of time, methods exist to slow the process, but nothing is known to prevent it entirely.
Deathly Whispers - Pith is able to learn the history of any corpse he touches.
