Personality
Though his bright coloration might deceive some into believing he is an open and friendly soul, Lych is quiet and reserved, seldom speaking. He is vague and mysterious, keeping to himself and shying away from attention. He is as cold and remote as his icy eyes imply, though occasionally he will confide in the clan leader to share with her ominous prophecies and messages that he received.
Occupation
As a shaman, Lych specializes in herbs, omens, charms, and communication with the deceased. More coming soon
Extra Information
  • His familiar is a Peacock Scorpion who currently does not have a name.
  • His necklace is carved with various runes and incantations.

History
Lych hatched as a very different dragon from the one he is today. Appearance-wise, he was the largest in his clutch, and his colors were not as vibrant. He was a cheerful and spirited Wildclaw, always leading the others in their games. However, one day, he brought the others along on a secret adventure while their parents slumbered. It was supposed to be a fun exploit, the fun of it centering around the fact that they were doing it while their mothers and fathers were dozing. They planned to explore the freezing tundra and head back before dawn.

They were not expecting a blizzard to hit. During this snowstorm, Lych was separated from his friends. Though he was a bold hatchling, he could think of nothing to do but wait until the wind subsided and the icy snow ceased the cascade around him in white sheets. As he waited, he was approached by a strange, shadowy figure. This figure neared him slowly, chanting and whispering. Curious, Lych came closer. A withered talon extended towards Lych, and without thinking he lifted his own claw and touched it to the stranger's. It was then that he blacked out.

During this period of unconsciousness, visions flashed before him, images of light and darkness, love and loss. When he woke up, Lych was dazed and disoriented. He staggered around blindly, searching for home but finding only an endless field of snow stretching ahead of him. He managed to take off, shedding ice from his frozen wings, but fell before he had glided for very long. There was nothing to do but walk. He trudged through the snow, his talons freezing, his teeth chattering. He trekked for many days and nights, sating his hunger and thirst with snow and the remains of animals that had not survived the subzero temperatures.

However, at one point he could go no farther. He stumbled, took one last step, and sprawled onto the snow, his body sinking into it. His wings folded against his back, his tail curled along his side, and his eyes began to drift shut. But just as the icy landscape around him turned blurry, he caught the slightest glimpse of a dragon standing nearby. He hastily stood and screamed for help, but received no answer. He turned to face the dragon, but it was gone. He glanced around desperately, but saw nothing. However, listening the the roar of the wind, he thought he heard a voice calling for him to keep going.

Somehow, he came to realize that he was communicating with a spirit. Disobeying her words did not cross his mind; he began moving once more, heedless of the chill. He made it all the way from the Cloudscape Crags to the Frigid Floes. By then, he was so exhausted that he could hardly stir. He collapsed onto the ice and fell into a deep slumber, not hearing the crack that meant he was now floating away from the Southern Icefield.

He survived on the floe, eating foolish seabirds that dared to perch near him. He drifted along for days until he reached the Crystalspine Reaches. Here, a friendly clan of Skydancers and Pearlcatchers took him in. Delusional, he rambled about the ghost that spoke to him. Most of the clan members were alarmed, but their shaman, an aged Skydancer male with a narrow face and luminous poudretteite eyes, brought the hatchling into his care. He told Lych about his own communications with the deceased, and taught Lych everything he knew about shamanic ceremonies, rituals, omens, charms, and herbal remedies. Lych remained his apprentice until he was a young adult. It was during this time that Lych decided that his coloration was not befitting of a shaman. By means of a complicated incantation, he transformed from a rather dull creature into a vibrantly colored dragon. He also changed the pattern of his scales, from a tiger-striped design to one of swirls and curves.

He departed once the old Skydancer announced that he had showed Lych everything he needed to know. Before leaving, the elderly shaman bestowed upon him a necklace of thick beads, each one carved with a rune, charm, or incantation. Lych thanked him and left, letting the winds guide him. He reached the Clan of the Petalfall Copse, and they welcomed him. He told the clan leader, Fern, his talents, though he was vague and mysterious about it. Nevertheless, the little Fae told him that they would be happy to have him. Since then, Lych has worked as the clan's shaman.
