Biography

The Conjurer
lx1GAtY.png
Born with the burning desire for knowledge that guides
most light dragons, Kihawahine has always been curious. As a hatchling, she would sometimes go where even the bravest imperials dared not tread to indulge her curiosities. Her explorations often led her into the mysterious and dangerous ruins of the Hewn City. The ancient carvings and whispers of ghosts and shades mystified young Kihawahine and she'd sneak away to submerse herself in the broken city for as long as she could until members of her birth clan dragged her back home.
Kihawahine is one of the most powerful magicians of her
time, and some say that it is her time spent in this magical, mysterious place that gave her such power. The rumors state that perhaps something of the Hewn City lodged itself in her and took up residence. Kihawahine loves hearing the murmurs and speculation about her past, and would be delighted to find that the rumors were true, but she tends to believe otherwise. Her power derives, so she thinks, from her own natural talent and persistent study, and not from some outside force. However, she does consider her days in the Hewn City as a source of inspiration for her studies and cherishes relics from the region.
It was curiosity that brought Kihawahine to the Scarred
Wasteland. Born in a realm where truth and knowledge reign above all else, the plague domain seemed the perfect place for Kihawahine to uncover secrets of her own and further her magical study. The resilience of the locals and their casual feelings towards the morbidity of death and disease fascinated her. It was in her new home that Kihawahine found true magical freedom and began her foray into conjuring.
The experiments started small. She'd pull pebbles from thin air or
fill empty goblets with cool water. It was when she got to living things that conjuring became more of a challenge. Her earliest plants were malformed and ill-colored. After a day or two, they'd shrivel away to nothing in their pots and she'd have to start over. Animals were even trickier. If she was lucky, they'd appear before her already dead of some inner complication that her conjuring had gotten wrong. If she was less fortunate, they'd have the wrong number of eyes or legs.
These days, Kihawahine still mostly uses her conjuring on material
objects, but her talents have greatly improved. Her gloomwillow guide is a perfect product of her conjuring, and Kihawahine has often conjured live food for herself or her clan mates. The locals of the Scarred Wasteland have "infected" Kihawahine, so to speak, with their morbid interest in death and disease. It's a distant goal of hers to one day conjure a dragon or possibly bring one back from death.
Despite her power and some of her darker interests, Kihawahine
gets along well with other dragons and with hatchlings. She still enjoys all other areas of sorcery and delights in teaching hatchlings magic tricks or performing bright and colorful spells to wow those around her. She's also sometimes makes a little extra treasure by performing fortune tellings, selling her homemade incense, herbal remedies, or charms, and by occasionally instructing others on her craft. When it comes to sorcery, Kihawahine's interests are varied, and she doesn't think she'll ever lose her eagerness to learn more.
