"Curse Breaker"
To be a cursebreaker, you have to first master enchanting things in the first place, that and of course, hexing the living daylights out of them. Defaeco has a silver chest in his chamber padlocked over three times with silver chains, inside are innocuous items, cloaks, cooking pots, toys, and a load of shiny things, thrumming with unsettling power. Some of them even shiver or glow, desperate to unleash pure hell on their users.
But they were just practise, he'll get round to them one day, for now under all that silver they should be fine. He just has to cleanse them with a bit of sacred incense and draw a circle that incorporates the position of the heavens and then take them all out securely one by one whilst chanting, but that takes so long when you're not getting paid for it, it hardly feels worth it. He is a heavy sleeper, so he's happy to ignore the rattling, sometimes screeching chest.
Defaeco breaks curses for a living, this involves a lot more spelunking caves and hoisting himself around ancient ruins than he would prefer, but, he is good at what he does and what he does is usually in old, dark places. He is a busy dragon in a lot of demand, especially in and around magical training schools where cursed objects are just a part of the curriculum.
Precise, private and very finicky, Defaeco is a hard dragon to befriend. Yet, he is surprisingly social, he just hates to let people past the first stage of geniality. He prefers to have a huge pool of acquaintances, some of which have heard the rumours, some who have not.
Sometimes, as part of his payment, he gets to keep the cursed object. They usually don't contain any residue or harbour any spirit seeking revenge, he explains, but most people find the objects he cleanses off putting after the whole ordeal. He has amassed quite a collection of trinkets, the ones he dislikes he tries to give away as gifts, but people often put two and two together. If only they were so fussy, waste not want not...
On his adventures, he often brought along Laevitas, whose irritable, yet charming personality drew him in.
Never had he had so much time to spend with a dragon before he begrudgingly accepted Laevitas' request to come along on a trip with him.
The two ended up becoming close friends, and eventually mates.
Much to the surprise of many dragons, Defaeco made plans to bring up a clutch with his mate.
Amicita, a neighboring dragon, offered to be a surrogate mother, since the process of "official" adoption was often long and stressful.
Defaeco had no time on his hands for it, and Laevitas warmed the egg in his absence.
His work as a cursebreaker, unfortunately, has not come without sacrifices.
His daughter, Pentagram, is partially possessed by one of the spirits he has expunged, named Collisus . The two have learned to live in peace, and he found himself considering the spirit just another child to raise in his clutch. After all, Pentagram had no physically-bodied siblings beforehand.
His job gave him an extra child so it seems, but it turns out that wasn't the only baby his travels would give him. He found an egg abandoned in a chemist's lab, a chemist who was recently arrested for illegal trafficking of spirit-bound objects for the purpose of necromancy.
Secretly, he kept this egg and warmed it with his body throughout his journeys.
It seemed like a regular dragon egg, until it hatched into an unrecognizable species.
This was the first Bogsneak he met in his life, a daughter he warded carefully with rune magic to keep any incidents from occurring.
Often he brings both- er- sorry, all three of his children along with him on his trips, along with his mate. It's crowded, but much less lonely than before.
