Origin Story:
"I'm just saying, how is it that we've never seen a mirror dragon before?"
"They're not as common as you'd think. They tend to hang out in trees and strike from above, and before you even catch a glimpse of them they've walloped you over the head and are gone!"
Ragnarok blinked his eyes awake and glanced up from between the rocks he had tucked himself into. Without moving his head, he opened his mouth slightly and breathed in, using his secondary eye set to seek out the heat from the two dragons passing his hiding spot.
They were young and clearly inexperienced as they tried to hunt prey amongst the rocky outcrop. Both were female, but one was the color of a waterpool at night while the other was clearly more adapted to hunting in a forest rather than a plant-less plateau such as this. One had glowing green eyes, which meant she was a nature dragon. The other was clearly a shadow female. What were they doing crawling around the Earthshaker's domain? It wasn't safe here, not with the BeastClan on the move.
Narok shifted slightly and winced. He curled his mangled forelimb into his chest to protect it better, glancing back at the young dragons. He aught to just let them go about their way. They weren't his responsibility.
They sure do kick up a ruckus, he thought to himself as the females kept murmuring to themselves.
"You'll never catch anything if you keep nattering on like that," he said waspishly from his prone position between the rocks.
Both females froze. the dark pearlcatcher whirled around and flared her wings slightly in defense. Her imperial companion puffed up as well. "Who said that?" she growled fiercely, but the fear in her eyes was evident.
Narok rolled both sets of his.
Gathering his weak limbs beneath him, he heaved himself to his feet and slipped out form between the rocks. The females rocked back slightly in shock.
"Never met a mirror, eh?" he rasped. "Well now you have. But you should really be flying back home now. This place isn't safe for inexperienced dragons such as yourselves."
The imperial blinked, suddenly concerned. She had just noticed his leg. "You're hurt."
Narok rolled his eyes again. "Stating the obvious, Nature. Allow me to reiterate: it's not safe here."
The nature dragon frowned. "Where's your clan?"
Narok shrugged. "Gone. Probably on the other side of Dragonhome by now."
The pearlcatcher poked her head out from behind the imperial's massive flank. She really was quite a beautiful thing. "Well you can't just stay here alone!" she exclaimed. She nudged her companion. "We should take him back with us. He probably even knows the way! That's useful, right?"
Narok frowned. "You mean you're lost?"
"Well we certainly wouldn't be running around these rocks all willy nilly if we knew the way home, now would we?" she exclaimed dramatically before flopping her body over her ever-present pearl. "We went adventuring and then lost our way."
He shifted his weight off his bad leg and sighed. Fledglings. Always stirring up mischief.
"Fine. Where's home?" he growled resignedly. The pearlcatcher grinned and pointed her muzzle east. Nature flight, then. Well, at least they tended to be friendlier than shadow dragons. Although this particular one had clearly never known an enemy before, the way she was opening her wings to him in trust.
The imperial suddenly moved closer, making him flinch back. "My name's Delfina. And this is Mothwing." She nudged the pearlcatcher forward more. "If you're clan-less, you're welcome to come back with us and rest with our clan. You're clearly incapable of hunting for yourself right now, and we could use a guide home anyway."
Narok bristled at the jab, but she was right. He couldn't walk well with his injuries. The harpies that had chased him yesterday had not been kind.
He sighed. "Alright, fine. But I'm riding on your back, Nature." The imperial nodded in acceptance.
The pearlcatcher--Mothwing, he reminded himself--grinned and helped him up.
"Mirrors aren't meant to live with other dragons. Living with this clan isn't part of my nature. I should leave. ...Tomorrow. I'll leave tomorrow. Or perhaps next week."
