You see, it doesn't do to wait for your pawns to come to you.

In the heart of the labyrinthine web of passageways and rooms buried deep underneath an old castle, the silver-tongued Balthazar has taken up residence. Balthazar is a conjurer that was born in the area around the Wyrmwound, and learned the art of conjuration from a corven ambassador to a nearby serthis encampment. When his tutor disappeared, likely transforming into a tengu, Balthazar followed her. Balthazar entered the Tangled Wood on his search, but became lost (as most do). When Lumerae's patrols found him, Envy took interest and offered him a secluded shelter from which he could practice and study his conjuration.

Balthazar is perfectly content with spending all day in the dark, whispering his spells and drawing his circles. Still, sometimes he appears nearer to the surface, or steps into the more busy parts of the castle. These visits have a purpose, but he also takes advantage of them to cause mischief.

Those that wander into Balthazar's "domain" tend to have a bad time. The imperial likes to mess around with unwitting guests, and sometimes his games get dangerous. Even a pleasant chat with the summoner can result in a wild goose chase after he somehow convinced you to go fetch something for him. Balthazar has an infectious attitude and a flamboyant way of talking. It's hard to not to get caught up in his antics, at least the first time around.

The summoning of spirits is Balthazar's preferred school of magic. Two common ones appear to be a inconspicuous spider that can grow to astonishing sizes, and a rather serious "shape-shifter" that possesses mirrors and acts as a butler of sorts.
