Lyrium is unlike any other clan member due to the fact that she can't use magic at all. Instead, she has a deep well of magical energy that, if she so chooses, she can share with another dragon (usually Warlock, her mate). Due to her inability, Lyrium started training as one of the clan's warriors and now guards, along with Hawke and her fellow Sentinels, the Rifters and their ward (Madrigal).
