______ After endless months of blustering winds on the plateau, it was an unusually quiet day when a gentle breeze placed an egg upon the peak of a small hill. It wasn't long before the shell cracked, releasing a tiny guardian. She shook her head, ridding herself of the pieces of eggshell, and faced into the wind. With a wobbly step, she began her journey. With no birth clan or parents, Illia was forced to fend for herself as she searched, not certain what exactly she was looking for. A month after her hatching, Illia has traveled halfway across the plateau already. And then, she found it. It was a secluded corner, surrounded by a young wood. In the center branch of the oldest tree hung a small set of chimes, ringing softly in the wind. This was the place she was meant to be.
______ Illia settled in quickly. Before long, she had taken a few wayward hatchlings under her wing as well. With her kind, motherly nature it was difficult not to feel happy around her. Nothing about Illia was obtrusive or offensive- even her colors blended naturally into the landscape of the wind region. Now, Illia presides over the clan as mother and protector of all.
