Vodyanoi

Vodyanoi is the monster from the depths. He lives in rivers, lakes, and ocean shorelines and seeks to destroy and drown those who come into his territory. Each death is another victory for him. Dragons rumour that he is some sort of demon, as opposed to a true dragon. No one has ever gotten close enough to ask him. (As far as the land dwellers know)

Vodyanoi is malicious. He enjoys causing havoc and distress. Few pass through his territory now, for fear of drowning and become another pawn for him to manipulate. He doesn't distinguish between friend and foe except for the rare few. Those precious few that became his friends and family he is very protective and possessive of.

GaelRysight is his mate and the first pirate to live through his territory. The magic that flows through his territory was in a state of chaos that agitated him. It interfered with his life and his hunting of intruders. Then one day he saw a sailor enter his territory and right before he dragged them down he saw that she did something that calmed the magical energy. But as it calmed the sailor fell into his water.

He was so entranced by her that he saved her. He bought (read:dragged) her to his lair and sat watching her until she woke up. She was interested but an unknown threat so he waited. When she finally woke up he demanded answers but she insisted that they have a calm conversation. He agreed (reluctantly, he was being calm but he wanted answers) and she answered his questions and explained that she could deal with magic thanks to her grandfather being a fairy dragon.

He was still interested in her and after she left he would follow her when she was near his lair. They would talk and slowly they grew closer. GaelRysight was the one who moved their relationship forward. She admitted her feelings (rather forcefully) and made him think about his feelings and he realized that he enjoyed her company. He also realized that loved her and was less of a predator around her. She proposed that they become mates and he agreed. (She was still interesting to him after all this time.)

She also was the one to speak to him about defending her grandfather's kingdom shorelines. This was something that he was excited to do (a reason to hunt and drag down others? Totally) and he learned to recognize the kingdoms symbol that would be carved on the bottom of friendly ships. He still spends most of his time under water but will come up to visit his mate and her family. Or to fight that other supposed sea monster Amemasu. Sadly he couldn't go to the death because he was the Queen's sisters mate but he is the better sea monster.
