Serum is everything a matriarch should be - calm, firm, and protective of her clan. She is rare among Guardians in that she has never felt the call of the Search, but it doesn't worry her; leading the Outcasts is rewarding enough, and no Guardian in the Refuge would dare comment on her lack of a charge.

Despite her talent as a leader she has a bit of temper and it doesn't take much to get her angry. The one her ire is most frequently directed towards is her unfortunate mate, Nimrav. When his antics become to much for her she often will turn to Natch, the Refuge's reluctant gatekeeper. Despite how handsome and mysterious she finds Natch, it is Nimrav she returns to at the end of the day. Natch is a nice distraction, but she can't help but be fond of her foolish husband.
