Biography
Maelstrom is a Coli Grinder.
I've added stats in the following ratio: 4 strength/2 quickness/1 vitality. Once he hits 46 quickness and 20 vitality, start dumping all the stat increases into strength. This is what's called a glass cannon build, and it works really well for defeating enemies quickly in order to get their loot drops. You can look up the guide I used in the Guides forum. It's called Coliseum Grinding Guide by Kiena. I'd post a link but they're being stupid on this particular page.
Maelstrom is currently equipped with Scratch, Shred, Eliminate, and one Ambush stone (thanks to toriangeli). He'll need to be levelled up to 15 and equipped with a second Ambush stone for that ability to take effect.
He should be good for grinding the Training Fields and the Woodland Path on his own from the get-go, though. This is helpful, as the monsters in those areas drop useful food items regularly, which means you can make sure you've got plenty of stores for your dragons to eat.
