Cursed Ruby

Alessa was cursed long time ago for her greediness.
Some old (and presumably powerful) dragon damned her with words: "You're avid and merciless, your heart is cold like a gemstone so let it be your sentence - you will never feel a warmth for any living creature and any living creature won't feel the warmth for you. From now on you're the Ruby - bloody and cold as your insides."
After that ruby shine covered coatl's body, gemstone horns appeared on her head and crystal roses covered her wings.
She never had many friends but even those few of them turned away from her without even understanding why. Alessa wasn't lonely, she felt no regrets as her feelings to others faded away and she even found a big joy in her new looks. Maybe sometimes, really rarely a little bit of emptiness fluttered behind her eyes, but collecting of shiny treasures were allways a sweet relief. She left her clan in her search for ancient relics and other precious goods.
But once, exploring the Hewn City she met Ashes. It was astonishing moment as he appeared, dark and shiny, covered in jewels that complimented the color of his piercing blue eyes, surrounded by sparkles of lightning from his gears. And from this very moment her heart melted and curse was broken. At least partially because now she can make her ruby horns and roses appear or disappear ar her will (and she loves herself in them). Ashes invited her to his clan (not far from the Hewn City) and she stayed there.
New clanmates accepted her gladly as they were searching for someone who specializes on ancient finds. She made new friends after a while and gladly doing her work.
Ashes became her mate. And she soon discovered how it happened that he broke the curse - he wasn't alive actually ; )
