The Weather Girl


Nia is a Scribe— a peculiar species of dragon whose feathers are literally stained with ink. They spend so much time putting ink to paper that their white feathers inky black.

Although Nia was born to the Ice flight, all Scribes are intrinsically linked back to the Arcanist. This peculiar subspecies of dragon is born with a strange ability. Although not true for all of them, many Scribes are able to predict the future with the very words they write. Some of them will spend years of their lives writing, trying to predict a single truth. Others have a clear vision of the future early on and give up the pursuit of writing in favor of other paths. But it’s this skill to see what will happen that links them all in the end.

Nia is an unusual case. Unlike some of the others of her subspecies, her powers aren’t very strong. She spends much of her time writing poetry. As far as her skills at predicting the future go, she can only predict tomorrow’s weather. It’s not the most impressive power, but many dragons in the clan come to her to ask her about it. They seem to regard her as a sort of oddity. It’s also nice to know if they’ll need to prepare for rain or foul weather the following day.

This Wildclaw doesn’t mind the attention too much. Some days she wishes she was able to do something more impressive. For now, she’ll simply have to make do with the gifts she’s been given.
