"It's my personal lab and my organized chaos, so I'd thank you to not touch anything."

Don't bother trying to enter the observatory, you'll just get lost among Asteroth's cluttered equipment. He's able to find everything he needs in it, but if you try to move things to 'clean up', he'll work himself into a frenzy. If he sees you doing it, he'll snap at you and shoo you off. "Why do they always have to touch my things?!" he'll mutter to himself.

Why would you even need to see him? Well, he has the most accurate starmaps anyone has to offer. It's just better to wait until he comes out to eat or interact with his mate Roxanne. Unless there's an incoming, world-ending asteroid heading towards Sornieth, he's perfectly fine being alone in his lab.
