Biography

"Welcome to the clan, but do make sure that you are physically capable of staying. Only the strongest can survive. Isn't that what happens in nature, after all?"

Iccarus himself was born on a cold winter morning in a remote forest within the Shadowbinder's domain. His father, a beautifully-colored, glittering Coatl, died when he was only days old, and his mother, a massive, beautiful Wildclaw of tremendous strength, refused to take the burden of raising him and his two Coatl siblings together. Instead, she pitted them against each other in combat when they were but three days of age, hobbling around on unstable hatchling legs. Even as a Wildclaw, Iccarus found himself unable to beat his two brothers, who, as Coatls, didn't need to grow into their magical abilities, as they were born with them instead.

After that, Iccarus didn't even stay to watch and see which brother of his would win his mother's favor. She had been rooting for him especially because they were both Wildclaws, and the second a magical blast from his brother knocked him to the ground, she hissed at him to leave and never come back. With a burning feeling of shame and a desire for vengeance, Iccarus fled the scene.

Because he had no mother growing up, Iccarus led a very nomadic life. He could barely even speak the draconic tongue, and spent his days training in the forests of Sornieth, brutally killing or wounding a number of dragons and monsters alike, trying to prove to himself that he was, indeed, the strongest dragon of his brothers.

Eventually, Iccarus stumbled upon the Starfall Island. It was entirely upon accident. He was in hot pursuit of a rather agile Fae dragon who kept dodging his attacks and wound up chasing her right into the Arcanist's observatory. The Arcanist took note of the feral dragon's physical appearance, and decided to send him to a language and communication school, where he learned basic information, like how to speak all of the dragon languages or how to treat other dragons.

Though with his new schooling Iccarus's perspective on the world drastically changed, he still maintained his burning desire for vengeance. Thus, he traveled to the outskirts of the Arcanist's territory and established a clan where he could stay. In the clan's constitution he planned out a hierarchy that would put him and all Wildclaws like him on top. Coatls would be but peasants to him.

As a ruler, Iccarus is very strict, sometimes even brutal in the way he handles things. He generally allows all dragons to stay within his clan so long as they are useful, yet he harshly discriminates against certain "lesser" breeds. He had three dragonets, all just as beautiful and glimmering as he, yet two of them perished in a o of sickness which plagued the clan a few years ago. Their death almost crushed him. As a result, the other son is spoiled generously, with Iccarus constantly fawning over him to make sure that he's okay.

Personality-wise, however, Iccarus is not the worst dragon to come across. He is polite, yet he can come across as stiff and formal. Growing up unaccustomed to other dragons and being responsible for the death of many even though killing is hideously frowned upon by dragon society and even outlawed within the Arcanist's domain have taken their tolls on him, and he doesn't talk much unless his son is nearby or he wants to bark orders at other dragons.
