Biography
Saga the Wise
__ |
__ As the Head Healer of the Lyfjaberg, Saga knows how to juggle a dozen tasks at once without faltering. She always gets the job done. Through the years, Saga has seen it all, living through several wars and following Valhall's journey from the start. She manages the Lyfjaberg with nerves of steel and has learned the art of wrangling all manner of dragons and unruly patients, having the bravest warriors cowering with a single glare. An angry healer is one of the most frightening things, after all, and Saga is a healer of exceptional calibre. Her anger is not to be trifled with. Between being everyone's support system and healing every fool that stumbles to her, Saga is eternally busy, and every day is a long one. There is Council Meetings, healing, brewing potions, and managing the entire mess in-between. But Saga keeps going, determined as few are, and emerges victorious every day, a trend she intends to keep going for quite some time. | __ |

Saga does not let the weary world get her down. She is hardy, tougher than she looks, and presses on even when faced with the pinnacle of stupidity on the daily. Her optimism remains. Her advice is valuable. Saga had been there for it all, has seen many of their current citizens as children and even seen their parents as children, and she has helped guide them all through life's many struggles. Her calm demeanour is not easily rattled. Saga has been a healer for decades, after all, and experienced all the hardships and stressful situations that entails. She takes her duties most seriously, too, and those that need healing will always find it in her capable hands. Saga's skill is infamous throughout the Icefields, now, as is her willingness to teach and guide the novices starting their own journeys as healers. Because sharing her knowledge is one of the most important things, thinks Saga. The next generation is one she cares for deeply and it shows; her patience with younglings and the mistakes of youth is endless. At the same time, her advice is blunt and straightforward. She believes in cutting to the chase, never having the time to beat around the bush, and more than one outsider has found her a little jarring. Such a tiny little Fae, but such a bossy, no-nonsense demeanour, but Saga does what is required. The Icefields breed harsh dragons and Saga has become one of them, a fearless creature that does not yield for nothing. | __ |

Before Valhall there was the Crystallized Forest. Saga had been a youngling, way back then, and set off into the world before she could truly know her birthclan. They linger in the depths of her memories, fond and hazy, but Saga cannot say she remembers them. Her heart still holds love for them, Saga would never deny this, but it is not the same as the love she has cultivated herself with years of experience and hard work. They are shadows and impressions, now, these faces and names. Many things are, for Saga has lived a long life and spent much of it fluttering from one thing to the next. She studied under a dozen masters, honing her craft, and travelled far and wide to ensure she learned all there was to learn. Saga's bustling lifestyle did not end until Valhall—until Fylgja, Týr, and three little hatchlings. Fylgja became the sister Saga never had, Týr became a constant thorn in her side that she reluctantly grew to care for, and the three little hatchlings became as dear to her as the sun on a chilly day. She brought a skillset they so desperately missed with her healing, potions, and overall knowledge about all things beneath the sky. It validated her years spent learning too many skills and cramming too many useless tidbits into her brain. Because that knowledge was valuable, now, more precious than riches and land. Saga kept them alive, tended injuries and offered her wisdom freely, and it helped them thrive as they slowly gathered more clanmates and wandered further into the Icefields. They named her their Advisory, at some point, and Saga gave up on refuting it not long after. And then they made it all the way south; found the place they would stay forevermore. Saga put her foot down in an instant, making herself crystal clear on one thing, and informed them all that she would be creating a healer's den. It was not a question. Saga named it Lyfjaberg. It became her domain, built with her magic and carved into the mountain itself to ensure its safety. Over the years it grew and grew, turning into a massive operation spanning two whole floors and countless caverns. It was Saga's pride and joy, her life's work, and the one thing none ever dared argue with her about. She sometimes settles on the windowsills of the easters walls, the ones with a view over the vast oceans, and watches the ships come in with the tide. Sailors speak of the glittering light of her Lyfjaberg glimmering on the horizon, fireflies in the mist guiding them safely to Valhall, and Saga is doubly pleased with her creation whenever such words reach her. She created a place of healing and recovery, a place for all to be safe, and it reaches as far as the ships cruising the raging waters surrounding the Icefields. | __ |
