"Hi, Dad,
I’ve been gone a while now, and you’re probably wondering how I’m doing in my new job, so I thought I’d write you. I think I’ll have it easier than you ever did, which makes me feel kind of guilty thinking about it.
First things first, though: I’ve been sworn to the Earthshaker and to this clan, and they gave me the name Teresteos. Like most things around here, it’s got something to do with staying proper and keeping vigil. So I guess you should call me Terry now. Believe me, hearing some of the names these dragons have, I lucked out.
The patriarch himself carved out a room for me to live in. It’s nice and big, enough space for all the stuff I brought over. He didn’t say much as he worked, just kept ripping the stone apart with these massive hits. He’s mad strong. I think you’d like him, but he looks sad all the time for some reason.
I’m guarding these twins, roughly my age. They’re important for reasons I don’t completely understand yet. Something about the fourth generation of Eleuthera’s line. She was the first dragon adopted into this clan. Which I guess makes her the twins’ grandmother, even though she’s still pretty young. It’s complicated but it doesn’t really matter. I met her, she’s really nice. So is the twins’ mum. Their dad not so much, he’s a bit of a sarcastic jerk a lot of the time. Reminds me of Leonard sometimes, just ten times smarter.
The twins are no trouble at all so far. I think they’re a little embarrassed to have someone like me guarding them. The only thing that happened so far is us getting caught in a dust storm too strong to fly in, so I found some cover and used my wings to shield us until it passed.
How’s Mum? How’s everyone back home? Tell Uncle Clef and Aunt Susie that Aubrianne is doing really well, she’s grown up to be a real clever clogs. I check on her sometimes.
