Aethon "A King is not complete without his Queen." King of the Herd • Powerful • Confident ID: # 19082007 A horrified cry ripped through the stale night air. "Elaine!" Aethon tripped over a fallen tree and ducked under another as he rushed to the fallen form. She can't be dead, she can't be dead! I was gone for a minute! He had only gone to see if there was some water nearby when he heard his mate scream. Aethon reached his mate and rolled her onto her back. Her head lolled to the side, and her maroon eyes were glazed. A choked sob escaped his throat as he saw the slashed hole in the Wildclaw's neck. Not only that, but the once beautiful neck was twisted at an odd angle, leaving it a wrangled, bloody mess. Aethon screamed his frustration and loss into the unforgiving night. Burying his head into her ruff, Aethon breathed in her scent for the last time. She was getting colder by the minute. "Why?!" He screeched. Aethon collapsed next to her and wrapped his wings around her body. As Aethon grieved with his eyes squinted shut, a name burned in his mind Dnias. He did this. The Ridgeback was always jealous of what he had. Especially the affection of Elaine. He would pay for this. Aethon didn't care that they had been raised together as brothers. Dnias would pay. He would kill him with his own claws. He would give him a slow, painful death. Aethon spent the rest of the night curled up next to his mate, trying in vain to keep her warm. By morning she was stiff and her sweet scent was replaced with the stiff stench of death. With heavy talons, Aethon dug a grave for her in the clearing where she had taken her last, ragged breath. He stood vigil over her for the rest of the day, head bowed. Aethon found a flat rock where he scratched the promise: "She will be avenged." and placed it at the head of her grave. The time eventually came when his stomach was most likely digesting himself, and was forced to wrench himself away. I'm coming for you, Dnias. |
Aethon values loyalty and justice above all. He has a strong sense of it, making him a champion of both. The murder of his initial mate, Elaine, haunts him on a daily basis. She was murdered by Dnias, his "nest mate". The two came from different families but were raised together. They never saw eye-eye, and matters escalated when Elaine chose Aethon over him. After a massive fight, Aethon and Elaine left to start their own clan. A few days later, Elaine wasn't feeling well so the two stopped while Aethon left to find some dinner. When he came back, she was dead. Aethon blames himself for her death. He met Seraphina a few months later at a bar, and she brushed his scales the wrong way, but he liked it. The two have been inseprable, constantly bickering and teasing each other, all in good spirit. They succeeded Riven and Ailis as King and Queen when they wished to retire. Aethon is extremely defensive of those he cares about, but no one can blame him. Despite his dark past, Aethon has a bright future as King of The Herd. Nothing can get in the way of his ambitions. |
