Changeling • Faerie Prince
ORIGINS
One night, when Oberon was but a hatchling, something horrible happened. He was visited in his nest by an ethereal promenade of pixies – visitors from some distant, unknowable world, who looked upon Sornieth with malicious curiosity.
They snatched the baby dragon and spirited him away from his nest. They carried him away to their own twisted dimension, away from his family and his own kind, to make him into one of their own.
Oberon has no memory of that event. He was raised in the other realm, only vaguely aware that something was not quite right about him or his surroundings. He was driven mad by the whispers of his new family, always telling him horrible secrets that he was not meant to know. They follow him even to this day, even as he uses his newfound powers to traverse dimensions, emboldened by the same sick curiosity that drove them to steal him in the first place.
The pixies never considered Oberon a prisoner. They considered him an honored guest, but in his time, he has become more. He was born with a natural affinity for magic, and his unnatural surroundings only made it more potent. His power grew along with his favor, and he had many years to hone his craft. Time passes differently in the beyond, and Oberon has had many lifetimes to perfect his skills.
After a number of lifetimes, he became their prince. Now, he acts with impunity, traveling dimensions and spreading the madness that clings to him like a haze. His presence is never intended to harm, but calamity follows in his wake. He seems peaceful enough on the outside, always quiet and polite, but there is something grim about his smile that makes other wonder, ‘Does he know?’ Oberon does not cause the disasters that follow him, but never once has one surprised him.
He is somber and unsettlingly quiet. He has wicked, piercing eyes and a taunting jester’s smile. The pixies follow him in a buzzing cloud, always whispering. Sometimes, their arcane words illicit a laugh from their stoic prince. Sometimes, he simply stares into space, vacant and distant, as if he is still traveling worlds.

What goes on in the mind of prince Oberon? It may be impossible to know. His words are vexing, never linear and always arcane. His aura is deafening in its profane strangeness and his motives are unknown. Perhaps they are unknowable. Oberon is a creature lost in both time and reality. He is an error, without purpose and without reason. He exists not for his own reasons, outside of the reality into which he was born. If you see him, make sure to flee. To see him is a bad omen. To see him smile is a condemnation.
