As a hatchling she loves to lie on the ocean floor and listen to the Tidelord's prophecies as swirrled around the currents. That is how her love for stories and poems came to grow. However, before long she had grown tired of the dark waters that surrounded her home and decided that it was time to leave her nest. After gliding across the seas for many weeks, she ended up at the Southern Icefields. There she found a small clan that took her in with open arms. She likes her new clan members but do not spend much time with them as she is not often at the lair itself. She usually spends her day thinking up new poems while gliding across the cold waters that surrounds her home. -add new lore with crew here.-

Ocean Horizons Subspecies -Ice variant-

Origin: Little is known about this elusive species, and even less about their origin. The first Ocean Horizon was spotted by a sharp-eyed Fae who was preparing for a deep sea diving trip. As he studied the ocean currents, a blotch appeared where the sea met the sky; his eyes were immediately drawn to it. The blotch drew closer and began to take the form of a dragon, a blue Guardian, but he was still unsure if what he saw was real. The Guardian, a male, seemed to be a part of the scenery itself! His body mimicked the ripple of the water, and his wings, the clouds and sky. He skimmed so close to the ocean waves that he was indistinguishable from the horizon. It wasn’t until he lifted towards the sky that the Fae was sure he was looking at a dragon, and not some silly trick of his mind. The last sight he glimpsed of the strange, yet beautiful Guardian was his distant form receding back into the horizon.

Behavior: Ocean Horizons are drifters, following no distinct flight pattern and have no known migratory routes. They fly close to the water’s surface and let the sea breeze carry them wherever it takes them. Their ripple and cloud patterned bodies act as a natural camouflage, protecting them from land and sea-bound predators, and making them far more elusive. However, they are a bit easier to spot from above since their wings don’t merge well with the water.

Most Ocean Horizons are loners; you will never see more than two or three at one time, and this rare occurrence is usually the case of a breeding pair or family unit. The exception to this rule is during the end of April, the Wavecrest Saturnalia. Hundreds of these dragons appear and soar over the waves together, giving the impression to any onlookers that the horizon itself is shifting along faster than everything else. Since their discovery, dragons from all over Sorneith have come to witness and admire this spectacle.

When two potential mates meet, the courtship begins with a series of complex movements and circling around one another, like a dance. If and when both are satisfied with the other’s performance, both dive deep underwater and do not re-emerge for several days. After the nest has been laid, both parents will see through to the hatching, then go their separate ways, though family groups are not non-existent. Ocean Horizon clutches range from 1 to 5 eggs, but usually fall somewhere between 1 and 3. Hatchlings leave their parents side early on, the swift currents beckoning them to the sea and whisking them away.

Ocean Horizons wield powerful elemental magic. Although they would prefer to flee than fight, corner one(which is hard to do because it’s an ocean) and it will retaliate by unleashing this magic, while inadvertently, or purposely, affecting the area around it. Depending on the Variant, the effects can range from massive whirlpools and hurricanes to fierce electrical storms to harsh blizzards. Attacking one would be an ill choice indeed.

If you were to ever meet an Ocean Horizon in person, you would most likely find them quiet and reserved, but relaxed and friendly.
