Ptarmigan

Due to his odd coloring, Ptarmigan left the forest he was born in at a young age. He searched far and wide until he happened to come across a huge cave full of stalagmites and quarts. Feeling like this was the place for him, he claimed the cave as his own and settled down to sleep most of the year. One of the few weeks he happened to wake up to an odd scratching and banging sound. Curious he went to investigate and nearly came face to face with the adventurous Tundra dragon, Kaelina. Curious at seeing another dragon that was completely different from himself he made it a point to observe her and soon began to copy her odd actions of digging and scratching at the many gems. Kaelina didn't notice him at first but then she noticed the extra markings he made as it was something new to him, his marks were sloppy and seemingly random. She actually giggled one of the times when she managed to watch him, deep in concentration, scratching at the ground only to be startled by a cave jewel climbing up his claws. The two became quick friends and she taught him to to find the perfect gems and how to dig without destroying everything in the process. His two weeks were soon up but instead of the usual urge to sleep he wanted to learn more from Kaelina and she extended the offer to him to come join her clan. He readily accepted, now curious of the many other skills he can learn and of the other dragons he could meet.

As soon as he joined the clan he was immediately stunned by Kaelina's mother, the bloodlust instantly making him recoil and before he could meet anyone else he ran to hide in a cave and slept for a week. It took Judal and Kaelina to coax him out to meet the rest of the clan. He immediately became interested in Sakura's pearl, loving the way he could see his reflection in it. Sakura, seeing him as just a small dragonling, found amusement in it and would let him stare at it for hours as long as he didn't try to steal it. He learned pretty quick not to touch.
