Chalice was a result of one of the wars waged by Ceinwen; her parents slaughtered, she was left alone when she was but a wee hatchling. In the ruins, she was found by the White Witch, who took pity on her, and ended up returning with a baby in place of loot and alchemical ingredients.

Plagued by uncharacteristic guilt, Ceinwen took her in. At first, she was raised in the communal nurseries. But her delicate psyche and withdrawn behaviour prompted Ceinwen to raise her in her own nursery, along with her own children. While she stood out like a sore thumb amongst the sea of white and cream guardians, she finally received the parental attention she required.

Ceinwen from a young age employed her as the clans cup bearer; this was peaceful and kept her busy. Through it, she slowly formed relationships with the residents of the clan; namely Sekhmakh, the court scholar, whose research and endless libraries of knowledge fascinated her and helped her develop interests.

It wasn't until the Plaguebringer cursed the clan with disease, as punishment for Ceinwen's sins, that she suffered as greatly as she did as a hatchling. While losing many friends, she watched the mothers of the clan lose their children, too. She did all to help Katarina's brood survive, but her efforts were ineffective.

The final blow came when she returned to the court, to Ceinwen, Sekhmakh and her siblings. Her loving touches spread sickness to her sisters and brothers, and one by one they all succumbed to the plague.
While she and the clan were stricken with grief, Ceinwen, with a heavy heart pronounced Chalice her heir.

As a result of all of this, Chalice is a very withdrawn and anxious dragon. She has little will of her own, and fears contact with anyone other than Ceinwen and Sekhmakh, of whom she thinks of as parents. The only time she emerges from her shell are when she spends time with them, and her childlike curiosity towards Sekhmakh's research and Ceinwens battle tales remains. 		Relations
