Ember had hidden Ignis even as an egg, the Matriarch saving the singular small egg from destruction; either from her sire's disappointment or her sister's cruelty was to be seen, but not a risk the oracle was willing to take.

Ignis spent most of her early life in the catacombs beneath the Empire, learning through listening and those her mother deemed trustworthy enough to teach and know of her.
When her mother thought her strong and old enough, she was set on her way out of the Empire with one last seeing from her mother:

"You will rule and you will be happy, but also lost and afraid."

She still wonders what that means.
