Biography

Gandara
The Blacksmith
Random Progenitor

Theme Song: -

"My work must reflect my spirit. The metal must be strong and pure, the tools well-shaped and placed where they need be for use in a greater task. So must I be strong and pure, and make of myself a tool that serves well in a greater task."

Gandara is a fire dragon to the core, and no one is surprised that she works as the clan's smith. She is also one of the co-founders of the clan, although content to let Jeanne lead to the point that many of the newer dragons are completely unaware of her role as anything other than the clan's smith. She is fiercely dedicated to everything that defines a Fire flight dragon: her craft, her homeland, and her deity. And like a true Fire dragon, her passions and her temper both run hot and burn fiercely. She is one of the supporting pillars of the clan's mission to protect the Ashfall Waste, providing them with weapons to do so, and using her craft to make them trade goods to fund themselves. Her passion burns as hot as the flames of her homeland, and among all of them, she is perhaps the one who would truly do the most in order to keep it safe. When called to it, there is nothing she will stop at, and if that requires the wild force of an inferno that leaves all in its path burnt to ashes, then so be it.

Most of the time, Gandara feels as though she does the clan the most good in her forge. They have warriors aplenty, but she is the only one who can arm them, and she puts as much passion into it as she does anything else she cares about. She has incredibly high standards for everything in her forge, from the quality of the ores she uses, to the quality of the charcoal she burns. She smelts and refines the ore to metal ingots herself, reckoning it the best way to ensure that her metal is pure and strong. Most of her tools are also ones she's made herself, to ensure that they hold up to her standards and are shaped exactly to her use. The few things of some other's creation in her smithy are a credit to their maker. Likewise, when she crafts weapons or armor for anyone else in the clan, she insists on customizing them to perfectly suit the intended recipient. She familiarizes herself with their measurements, their movements, their fighting style, any details that will affect how what she makes is used. Everything she makes must be perfectly suited for how it will be used. She allows nothing less to leave her forge.

Gandara is also one of the few dragons of the clan who is fiercely devoted not just to her home but to her deity. She doesn't just pay lip service to her worship of the Flamecaller, and considers what she does to be a sacred calling. Although she's never tried to present herself as any sort of priestess, she is nonetheless often consulted if any of the clan are wondering what path it would be right for them to take. Once a year, at the very end of the Flameforger's Festival, she goes on a solitary pilgrimage to the heart of the Great Furnace. Although some of the clan worries that she might choose, on one such journey, to leave them for the Flamecaller's personal service, she has never done so yet. She believes that for the time being, she can serve her deity better where she is, although there is no doubt in anyone's mind that that will be her desination at the end of her days, when her eyes are no longer sharp enough, not her claws strong enough for smithing. In the meantime, she counsels those of the clan who believe they wish to be exalted to the Flamecaller's service, and guides them there if they so choose.

Like many Fire dragons, her temper burns as hot as her passions. In fact, the two often run side by side. She does not take personal failures lightly, and if something from her forge turns out badly, whether the mistake is hers or mere chance, she will angrily melt the entire thing down again to begin anew. Likewise, when she gets involved in her work, she reacts furiously to interruptions to it. The most high ranking clan members she respects enough to tolerate it from, since she trusts that they would only do so with important reasons, but anyone unlucky or foolish enough to come into her workshop at the wrong time is often shouted right back out again. However, she is fiercely loyal to everyone in the clan, no matter how her temper might flare at them. She works so hard to make sure they are personally protected, as well as making sure they're well-outfitted to protect their homeland. Every member of the clan is someone who has dedicated themselves to the cause she holds so dear to her heart, and it makes her hold them dear to her heart as well.
