Pharos, a small Coatl, snuck into the clan one night in search of food and treasures-- however he did not realize that the hoard guardians, Smaug and Sieglinde, were light sleepers. He was caught and asked where he hailed from. He said he came from the Ashfall Wastes, but was cast out due to his lack of skills with smithing and mining. The allure of treasure still fascinated him however, and he quickly learned that pilfering other clan’s hoards could gain him status in the Wastes in providing rare ores for jewelry and other finery. Of course, being a small dragon, he was not able to carry large amount away from other clans, which is why he was never caught before this point. Yevaud’s clan Guardians blended in with the hoard, and so Pharos had no idea that they were even in the large cave where such items were stored.

In apology for his almost committed crime, Pharos offered to repay them with his own meager store of riches, which were his own belongings and not stolen. Smaug wished for a harsher punishment while Sieglinde stood by. As this ‘trial’ went on however, Ostara, the healer’s aide, thought of a solution. She asked Yevaud if perhaps the clan could put Pharos’ skills to a better use, along with keeping him in the Icewarden’s domain so that he would not revert back to stealing from other clans. She offered that possibly Pharos’ stealth could be an aid should other clans look to move upon this clan. As Yevaud and Reach’s clan was known to be peaceful and defensive rather than offensive, it could be targeted.

Ostara knew from Anuket that treating battle wounds was a harrowing time, and wished to avoid potential and sudden conflict in any ways possible. Pharos agreed that he would be happy to remain and serve the clan’s reconnaissance needs. Reach jumped in at this point and found it to be a wonderful compromise—her Spirals were too large for much stealth work, and clan did not have enough Fae that were trained to work with. Coatls and Faes are the two breeds that would be able to remain undetected mainly.

And so Pharos has remained in the clan as a support during times of strife or trouble, but when he’s not needed to commence reconnaissance missions he works to help gather food for the clan. He and Ostara also ended up becoming closer and mated thanks to her intervention on his behalf. His rogue-like personality tends to get him in trouble, but as a whole he has settled into the clan rather well, also befriending a similarly tricky Gale Wolf.

Another odd thing Pharos enjoys is testing out various "skin" magics in order to fit into various situations. After a rather unplanned encounter with the magic known as a "scatter-scroll", his scales under the skin permanently shifted hue.
