Mehra
Rank: Priestess Allegiance: Fire Mate: None
Mehra is an only child, the sole daughter of her parents’ union who was once lauded as a gift from the Flamecaller herself. As such, she was raised in an environment of dogma and zealotry, bathed in the lava floes beneath the Furnace and baptized in the fire of Her glory. In the glow of the goddess’ warmth and light, she found purpose and calling and peace, becoming something of a herald to her peers, a blazing beacon of the Flamecaller’s word amidst the mist and smoke of her home.
Unfortunately, Mehra is also quite the curious dragon, and one prone to having more than a few opinions that are considered unpopular with her former clan. She saw corruption in the rites to her Lady, feeling as though something was very amiss in their dealings with one another and their strict teachings, harsh punishments, and secretive wording in sacred texts. Concerned, she did a little digging into the matter, and uncovered a series of truths she likely should have left well enough alone. Caught red-handed with these blasphemous scraps of information, she was taken away by the very dragons she once served and imprisoned high upon a rocky cliff, locked away in a cavern on the border of the southern sea. The details thereafter are blurry: Mehra doesn’t like discussing her captivity beyond relaying that Nerevar heard her cries and set her free, and Nerevar himself feints ambivalence towards the affair, shrugging off questions out of what others assume is respect for Mehra’s privacy. What is undeniable, however, is that Mehra is now one of his most steadfast companions, second only to Alandro, a constant figure at his side who acts as a sounding board for all of his ideas. Though the two are inherently very different dragons with very different views--Nerevar being far more uniform and strict, whereas Mehra is compassionate and soft--they respect one another’s opinions a great deal and it is not uncommon for Mehra to talk her liege out of ideas she considers too callous or brutal. The most outwardly visible of One Clan, Mehra is a dragon dedicated to charity and protection, a massive and powerful wall that stands between the sick, weak, and elderly dragons of the Abandoned and the dangers of Dragonhome. She prepares meals for other clans during times of scarcity, provides clothing and comfort to newcomers and stragglers, and shelter for even the most belligerent of dragon and beast. Her sermons are well-attended by even those who do not have much stake with the Flamecaller, the Followers being a popular fixture at her congregations alongside a couple of curious members of the Infected. Most importantly of all, she mans the “ash pits” of One Clan, though she has since opened them to outsiders. A carefully maintained graveyard of cremated dragons, she performs funeral ceremonies and ash burials for fallen friend and foe alike, and stands steady guard at their side. Working alongside Samhain from the Coalition of Magicks, she struggles to bring peace to their souls and provide comfort to their families and allies in their wake. ...
Independent, unpredictable, and completely fearless, Kerosene's crystal hide and affinity for heat is the only thing that protects her from being singed, seared, and gouged on a daily basis. More fire sprite than dragon, her favourite activity is paragliding above the Forge, suspended by hot air currents rising from the lava below. Beholden to nobody, attached to no one, she garners the envy of Rosary's hatchlings, many of whom are insecure with their chosen destinies.
i'm nothing if not loyal, you know. always. "Have you considered," Monroe says, very quietly, "that I don't need your help to win the contest?" Kerosene continues to ignore him, happily swinging side-to-side, wolf paws clicking against the counter. "But you do." He admits to himself, ruefully, that he does. Monroe ducks to avoid a roiling gust of flame, which skims the top of his mane and bleeds it bright orange. "But-- " "It's magic fire." she says, happily, and pours a half-gallon of her namesake all over the chrome floor. |
