The Princess
First-born of the King and Queen, and heir to the throne


Princess Esther was born to King Beauregard and Queen Fluffy in the early days of the kingdom. Not many others who were born in the kingdom have chosen to remain once they have grown, but Esther did - she knew, in part, that it was her duty. Her future is here, with her inheritance, her home. It is not only her future set in Clan Naturnalia, but her heart, which would falter at the thought of leaving. She grew up surrounded by love, and so she loves in return, fully and fiercely. Her family - including her chosen family - is the most precious thing to her. Strolls through Avorio’s gardens, with General Cirrus and her parents at the gazebo for tea, their voices carrying gently through the pollen-scented air, are some of Esther’s happiest moments.

And so, she could never bare her deepest secret to her loved ones.

Because Esther’s happiest moment of all is when the summer sun turns, bringing winter’s long, cold night, with flurries in the air and a frozen glaze over the gardens…. Avorio’s magical flowers caught in an endless blossom, trapped beneath thick, clear ice like crystal… The castle of her parents lies still, dormant, but that is the moment Esther truly comes to life. Summer strolls are pleasant to her, true, but only for the company. It is when she walks alone through the garden moments before a blizzard, or perhaps just after a snowfall, that Esther feels most at home, the harsh winter wind like a melody in her fur, in harmony with the song in her blood.

How could she possibly inherit a Nature Clan when Ice calls to her?

Perhaps, she hopes, there might be a way. Not even Nature can live endlessly, and so winter comes to bring her element a chance to rest, a pause before the upcoming spring. But even in the dead of winter, someone must tend the gardens, and Avorio has thin scales. Spirals were not made for winter. But Tundras, oh, that was another story. And Esther would do what is needed to help her Clan.
