Viren

Sent to do one job is what she thought, just get it done and make them proud was her motive to keep working her very best what could go wrong if she followed the rules right? not many knew of the Lightweaver's land where there children serve them, sent from lairs of many kinds to do the same job to perfection, its an honour they said and Viren would agree with that statement as the one time she felt love was as she went to join them as it brought great honour to her land and for the clan, yet sometimes she would find herself wallowing in jealousy as the rest of them got to life there life to the fullest with a family or friends that loved them dearly, yet all she had was a job that needed to be done so her 'clan' still shone bright and was protected by the all mighty Lightweaver who often left them alone for days on end until they needed something of importance, was this really the way she wanted to life for the rest of her existence? well to be honest she really had no choice in the matter, but she shall wait.

One day before work even started she was called into the room of light where the Lightweaver stood in all of their glory, and the tales are true they really do shine brighter than the sun she gulped not daring to speak this was the first time she has ever been before them and for some reason they wished to see her, "Viren, I have an important job for you" the great one spoke there voice booming around the room, she bowed and spoke with s soft voice "Hai, what would that be?" she questioned slightly curious, "I need you to raise a hatchling" they stated, Viren looked up baffled this had to be a joke right there are no hatchlings here and even if they came as hatchlings they all grow to adulthood here anyway, "You shall be sent back down in an hours time, i suggest you get ready" they said still towering over her, Viren snapped out of her daze, "But what about the hatchling? how will I find it?" she questioned eager to know more, and for some reason the lightweaver simply swayed there head and said "Don't worry you will know".

An hour came and when by as she headed to the gate for some reason she was scared to pass through like she wasn't supposed to as many dragons gave her a strange look as no one has ever left before except the higher ups, as the gatekeeper nodded at her she passed through, light blindering her she knew this is what she has wanted for such a long time, she woke up to a forest nowhere near the ruins 'that's odd' she thought surely the hatchling will be a light dragon oh well it's still her duty the lightweaver must have a good reason anyway in the forest the light was fading, creating new shadows and dark patches around her. Eyes glimmered from tree hollows. The wind wailed between distorted trunks, carrying the sickly stink of wood rot. she moved faster, ignoring the briars that caught at her legs, the damp leaves that grimed her skin she lifted her face, letting the light and shadow dance across her skin. Bees hummed in and out of the pennyroyal. she inhaled its minty smell and continued on, delighting in the sound of my feet sliding through the leaves. The trees stood utterly still, statues in a living museum where no leaf dared to fall.

After making her way out of the dull forest she noticed a village it was small but was incredibly lively as hatchlings ran about playing many different games most of they had dull colours so they can easily hide in grass and bushes when there was danger or when they learned to hunt, yet one hatchling a coatl in fact stood out as she shone in the light with a number of different bright colours decorated her fur as the other children would not even look at her and the adults just walked past her not even looking in that direction she held a small smile as one of the hatchlings ran past but it fell soon after this is her job to look after someone like her, who was also left out and forgotten in a place so crowded, so she walked up to the little hatchling bending down to her level and meeting her eyes with them, she smiled something she has not done in a while, "hey there what's your name?" she questioned in a happy voice, "Alena" she answered in a quite voice, after the hatchling looked shocked but after a while of talking she had grown attach to the older dragon as they both left to find somewhere they truly belonged.
