They came from the Hewn City, an answer to a cry for help. Remiel, the clan founder, had grown so ill that he feared he would not live to see the hatching of his children. He sent a messenger, Cerulean, to the city of Light, seeking a doctor. She was gone for many days, before returning with an imperial so exotic in appearance that they seemed barely real. While Remiel was floating between consciousness and sleep, the imperial cured him. Though plagued by strange dreams for weeks afterward, Remiel was restored to full heath. The imperial asked to stay. Endlessly grateful, Laverna agreed. "I am Saacha," the imperial said. "And I've come to bring your Clan happiness." And Swampflock is happy to have a doctor within their own Clan. Even though Imperials usually eat a lot, and take up lots of space, Saacha is never in the way. Usually accompanied by the fellow plague wyrms of the Neon Virus Gang, Saacha goes about wearing a friendly grin. They're ready at any moment to help an injured or ill dragon of Swampflock, and never seem to tire of helping. In fact, Saacha has never been heard complaining at all. Their voice is buttery-sweet, at a dreamlike tone between low and high. The other dragons describe them as a vision, often forgetting a detail here and there when retelling their encounter with the stunning Imperial. They're kind, dependable, and optimistic, though every once in a while a familiar or hatchling will be startled upon seeing Saacha. Some hatchlings refuse to come near them at all- but it's normal for a hatchling, once in a while, to be afraid of seeing a doctor. Saacha always tries to make those around him smile, as they consider sadness itself to be an illness. They are full of quotes about sunshine and cookies, and always seem to know what to do to make most dragons laugh. Saacha themself cannot be happy knowing that dragons around them are not feeling healthy and uplifted. They're aware that many dragons find them annoying at times- or at least they would, if Saacha didn't carry around a bag of bountiful treasure and goodies, to give away to the more stubborn. Whenever Saacha's not healing others, they're learning about how to be a better doctor. They like to spend a lot of time digging out their lair, lining it with anatomy scrolls, herbs, medicines, and shelves of samples. They've made something they call a Science Tunnel, a section of their lair that's chock-full of living and preserved biological samples. Saacha hopes hatchlings will visit the tunnel and aspire to become doctors themselves. But recently they've started to dig down, far down. Lining the walls with more and more samples. On a day where they fail to heal or help a dragon, they dig ever deeper. How far down does Saacha's lair go now? No dragon knows. Saacha has been known to have odd effects on the dragons of Swampflock- now Chiaroscuro, especially when they enter his lair. There are painfully bright colors all around, almost as bright as Saacha themself. These can be straining or bewildering, though the doctor acts so kind that his patients dare not speak of this. Though many dragons chock it up to being side effects of his medicines and the fumes they give off, spending time around Saacha seems to cause their memory to become "slippery". Often a dragon can visit Saacha only to forget some details from the visit, or forget the visit entirely. Sometimes, a dragon will leave Saacha's lair with an aching feeling in their gut, as if they've forgotten something important. In their dreams that night, they find what they forgot, decayed from lack of use. On rare occasions, when a dragon looks at Saacha, and then off into the distance, they start to hallucinate! As a rule, few dragons ever connect the dots. Maybe it's the medicine. Maybe they haven't had enough to eat. But those bright colors and patterns on the grinning imp are bewildering, so bewildering... |
